Hope Mono Trial Disc Brakes Description : This brake was designed specifically for the unique demands of Trials. Lever - Classic Mini lever giving smooth, progressive feel. Split clamp for easy fitting. Integrated master cylinder reservoir for easy bleeding. Adjustable lever reach. Caliper - One piece caliper, machined from solid billet of aluminium. As well as reducing weight, this also allows us to make a more rigid caliper, improving the lever feel. Large diameter pistons to give increased power. Black caliper with silver bore caps allowing access for servicing. Two aluminium pistons with magnets to hold the pads from disc. Stainless Steel braided hose fitted as standard. Use: Trials. Must not be used for any other purpose.
Advantages: Super strong and light, sealed bearings means it will work forever Disadvantages: 20mm axle means it wont work on all forks
...Another excellent product from the Hope range.
The hub is perfect for all types of riding, its light enough for xc riders and also strong enough for the downhill riders. It runs on sealed cartridge bearings that are easily changeable, instructions can be found on the Hope website. The hub body is made of cnc'd aluminum so its light and still strong. It also has the standard 6-bolt disc mount so its compatible with all brake systems. The 20mm axle means it creates a very stiff wheel and front end of the bike that will take all abuse. It comes in all the standard hope colours so you can easily match it to you colour scheme.
A superb hub well worth the money, it will last forever...

Advantages: Excellent lever feel, stopping power, durability Disadvantages: when they squeel, they REALLY squeel
...I've been mountain biking for many years now and over time I've tried a wide array of braking systems on my various bikes. I was always a huge fan of Avid's braking products and had test ridden a number of bikes with their Juicy discs on before deciding on the right bike for me and taking the plunge into speccing my own custom build. The bike was to be a Yeti 575 and the brake choice came down to the HopeMono minis (as fitted to my Orange), Avid Juicys and the Shimano XT. I chose Shimano for various reasons and the following review will hopefully outline why I took this course of action over the much hyped Hope and Avids.
Having tested various systems on demo bikes around the country, it seemed to me that there was little to choose between the braking characteristics of my shortlisted products. However, the Shimano just edged...

Advantages: 4 pot brake, hard wearing, solid build quality. Disadvantages: Difficult to set up.
...I bought these a couple of years ago and I have never ridden with a brake that is so good. I rode with maguras for a while and when I upgraded to the Hopediscs i could tell the difference immediately.
these brakes are used by some of the top riders in the world so that obviously shows that they are a top component to add to your bike.
Once set up they can be left until new pads are needed, they take a little time to set up however once they are done they are excellent, they do not need bleeding very often as they stop air getting into the system very well.
Do not buy any other brake system, this is the best and worth every penny....
