Value for money, these ... ...The machining and anodizing is of an extremely high quality and it is fair to say that Hope equipment is as good as bike jewellery.

Advantages: Cheap,Sturdy,Powerfull Disadvantages: Brake fluid pump up on long downhills
This is Hope`s entry level disk brake and is one hell of a brake for light DH to XC,its just so versatile.Coming from Hope,this brake is built to last and even if your brake does go wrong(Whether Lever,Caliper,Hose or Disk)parts are readily avaliable.This is one of the best brakes that you can buy for the money,especially as it now comes with a Pro lever as standard(Which used to cost £20 more!).The brake has a very progressive feel and has bags ... ...performs just as well as in the dry and does not seem to squeel too much like other disk brakes.The only problem that i can see with this brake is on vey long downhills where the pads will need to be adjusted to combat the brake fluid pumping up,but this only applies to very long downhill where a lot of braking is needed.If you need a disk for your all purpose,duel,XC or playbike then this is the brake for you.If you are going to be doing some major ...

...range and I found that upon even a short test ride, they may have had a more direct power to motion ratio, but they lacked the feel I had come to know and love from my old P7.
The plus side of my dithering, meant that I missed out on getting a 1999 model p7 and for the year 2000, they were doing two versions. An LX equipped and an XT equipped. I went for the XT, which benefits from, obviously, upgraded Shimano components, but also Hopesport hubs front and rear as well as Manitou SX forks.
Of course, when you're really looking to save weight, aluminium may be a major factor, but for someone like me who wanted a dependable, compliant ride combined with a good spec and a name I could trust, the P7 came out tops....
