Sportabac - I owe you one!
Review of Sportabac Turnout long sock by Snookles

Advantages: Effective, durable protection
Disadvantages: Mud tends to stick so frequent washing needed

...bought 3 pairs of long Sportabac socks from my local saddlery for approx £26 each in Dec 2003. My horse had suffered a horrific injury to the lower part of her left hind, leaving very little flesh on the bone and after 4 weeks at the vets she was going stable crazy! The long turnout socks held the very large dressing in place and protected it from the elements so I could turn her out during the day - which I am sure aided has her recovery. As the ...
...ride her in a sand manege - and they successfully kept all the sand off the dressing whilst helping protect against brushing. Now they protect the still delicate scar tissue when she is turned out as well as keeping the mud off. After a year of wearing the socks each day - she has had absolutely no rubs. I have managed with just 3 pairs - so they have taken some hammer. Only now, after a full year of use, is the velcro starting to weaken and they ... Read review

Masta Deluxe Turnout Rug
Review of Masta Deluxe Turnoutmasta by sweetpea_sweetpea

Advantages: Fits well.
Disadvantages: Neck attachment sold seperately.

I dont normally use Masta rugs on my horses but after going on the net and looking in catalogues I was really impressed with this rug so I decided to buy one for my one horse who I find it difficult to fit rugs. The first this that attracted me to this rug was the high shoulder gussets which gives a bit more freedom. Once the rug was on him was great a real good fit, it wasnt too baggy or right at the front and it was really deep on him which is ...

Kieffer Salzgeber Headcollar
Review of Kieffer Salzgeber Headcollar by sweetpea_sweetpea

Advantages: Lovely soft leather.
Disadvantages: Expensive.

...for a Havana leather headcollar Kieffer do other ranges. I only use this headcollar when im competing and i dont use it for everyday use as its so expensive!! I keep it in a bridle bag, so it doesnt get damp or dusty! Quite excessive! The leather is lovely and soft but like any leather product they are quite rigid to start off with so before its first use I cleaned it and oiled it so it became a bit more supple. My horse is 17hh and the full fits ... Read review

Weatherbeeta Kincade (Roma) Softie Pad
Review of Weatherbeeta Kincade Softie Pads by sweetpea_sweetpea

Advantages: Choice of colours & shapes. Washable & Durable.
Disadvantages: None

...good fit. Please note that Weatherbeeta also go under the name of Roma so please when you are searching for this item look under Roma and not Weatherbeeta Kincade. I own four of these in white and black but they do come in four colours, White, Black, Navy and Green and they also come in 3 different shapes, Dressage, Saddlecloth and Numnah GP. These soft quilted pads are made from a durable cotton drill and are shaped to sit well in to the saddle. ...
...provide a bit of extra support under the saddle. I dont use them as much in the summer months as the horses tend to sweat alot so I use the normal Roma dressage square but during the winter I think they are ideal. They are so easy to wash at a 40 degree wash and they can be tumbledried (or atleast I tuble dry mine!!) and they come up as good as new. The only thing I noticed is that the black ones started to fade after alot of washing which happens ... Read review

Westropp Dual Density Knee Boot
Review of Westropp Dual Density Knee Boot by sweetpea_sweetpea

Advantages: Selection of sizes, Cheap.
Disadvantages: Fall down, Nylon straps can stretch.

...one of the horse magazines. Westropp has been going for years so they are a reputable company. My horse is a 16.2hh TB x so I went along to my saddlers and bought a pair in the Large size. Fitting them was easy and the clip buckles are easy to use. What first attracted me to them was that they were made of neoprene bound with PVC padding which I thought was good for the horse as some of the leather knee boots can be quite hard and stiff. I hack ...
...For the first time I ensured the boots were properly fastened and in the right place which wasnt a problem. However half way into the ride I discovered that one of the knee boots had fallen down, luckily we had stopped and another rider had alerted me. I put the boot back up but yet again 10 minutes later it fell down, I decided to take both of them off and he could go without. On my next ride I put the boots on again and a bit tighter just incase ... Read review
