Perhaps not as good as other episodes on this DVD, this still has some good moments, with Homer obviously preferring Ned's wife to his own, to them being circled when they try to run by, amongst others, The Moody Blues, who say a short poem before wanting to kick their arses. Again the writers do a good job of parodying institutions, in this case, marriage in Vegas ("Someone dishonoring their marriage vows? Not in Las Vegas!").
"Homer At The Bat" is one of my favourite Simpsons episodes and concerns the Springfield nuclear power plant softball who, thanks to Homer and his "wunderbat" go a whole season undefeated. Advantages: Good action sequences, interesting moral ideas. Disadvantages: Terrible (and I mean terrible) acting, disjointed.
and themes. The alien's enforced segregation and mistreatment so clearly reflecting the issues that have occurred in South Africa over the years. It obviously a subject close to native South African fledging Director Neil Blomkamp's heart and kudos to him for attempting it. However, this does not forgive the fact that large parts of this film are bloody awful.
Take the aliens for example. How dreadful are they! They look like something out of Doctor Who. Not even the modern Doctor Who either. We are talking Tom Baker era special effects here! The whole thing is very much low budget made for television sci-fi. Now I like my B-movies as much as the next guy but they have to make up for it with a decent plot and acting and for me District 9 has neither. A strong theme and an interesting moral undercurrent? Certainly but it is lacking a decent ...

Twenty years ago a massive spacecraft came to Earth; it bypassed cities like New York and eventually came to a hover of Johannesburg in South Africa. The spaceship stayed there completely inert for a while until humans managed to enter the ship; inside they discovered over a million locust looking aliens whom they nicknamed prawns. The aliens were malnourished and dying so a decision was made to bring them to Earth and set up an area where they could live. That area is District 9.
Being in such close proximity with Humans it is inevitable that there would be conflict and tension and so it was decided that the aliens would be moved to another camp 200km away from District 9 and so the MNU, who is the company that oversees the camp, has been charged with moving the 1.8 million aliens away to ...
