One of the best insect repellents around
Review of Lifesystems Expedition 50+ Insect Repellent (100ml) by alimason

Advantages: strong enough, value for money, not that smelly
Disadvantages: Not strong enough for serious jungle work

I bought this product this year after previously owning the 100 deet repellent, which is far stronger. However i will have to say that if i had the choice against i would definitely buy the 50 instead and for the following reasons: 1. It is not as smelly as the 100 deet and therefore if you plan on walking into nice restaurants or just being with company in general you can get away from it, unlike the stronger stuff which makes you smell like a ...
...home-brand names you get on the High Street and therefore i found that after a 3 week trip to a malaria infected area i hardly had any mosquito bites. 4. Although it is strong enough to keep all mozzies at bay with exception of the dreaded piri piri fly, it is not strong enough to really damage your clothes or make your skin feel uncomfortable. 5. At £3.99 its very well priced and in fact one bottle would last for several applications a day for ... Read review

This will melt plastic!
Review of Lifesystems Expedition 100 Insect Repellent (50ml) by alimason

Advantages: very strong, lasts for ages
Disadvantages: smelly, melts plastics

...Overall in my experience i believe this repellent is particualrly useful for people going into the jungle or highly infected areas, but if you are mostly going to be in towns i wonder consider other options such as the lifesystems 50, which is also a pound cheaper at £3.99 ... Read review

Deter the flying biters
Review of Boots Repel Insect Repellent Spray by danielalong

Advantages: We didn't get bitten
Disadvantages: can't be used in tropical areas

Boots Insect repellent spray With a Little Miss who seems to be loved by flying biters, I tend to take as many precautionary products as possible in the form of lotions potions and sprays when we go on our jollies. ~~WHO IS THIS FOR?~~ It is suggested that the spray is for adults and children from the age of 6 months. This is actually one of the reasons I bought the spray- if a baby of 6 months can have it applied, then it's a doddle for a 6 ½ ...
...AND AVAILABILITY~~ Available from Boots stores and online at www.boots.com this costs around £5.50 for 125ml. ~~WARNINGS~~ • Not suitable for tropical areas where there is a risk of infectious bites- I believe something stronger is needed for these places. • Avoid contact with inflamed or sore skin • Not to be used near naked flames ~~VERDICT~~ An easy to use effective spray to keep yourself from being bitten. I couldn't smell ... Read review

Mosiattract not mosiguard
Review of Mosiguard Spray by andyyaris

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: It doesnt work

Mosiguard is a midge / insect repellent, the one i bought is made from all natural ingredients, I thought this would be a benefit as its nice to know what you are applying to your skin hasn't been made in a chemists dream. Quite simply this stuff is useless - however i shall go into more detail I normally use Jungle formula extra strenght as bugs of all shapes and size see me as an all you can eat buffet and it normally does the job, I go camping ...
...a year, so i am used to the clouds of bugs. I bought this as i could not get any jungle formula, thinking they would both be the same. I was very wrong. I applyed it and it has the nasty citronella smell asoicated with these products, got to my first cloud of mosi's and came out covered in bites, decided to re apply some, but it made no difference, I was dinner. Luckily i found an old jungle formula wipe in the bottm of my bag and it saved the ... Read review

Bugs begone
Review of Boots Repel Mosquito Coils by danielalong

Advantages: No bites
Disadvantages: Tricky to use at first

Mosquito Coils On my recent jollies to Italy, we were staying in the mountains, and not wanting to be eaten alive, I bought a pack of these for outdoor use. ~~Product and Packaging~~ The coils come wrapped in some kind of foil, and when opened, they are green coils, with two being pushed together, and requiring separating. ~~When Do I use them?~~ These are recommended for use in non tropical areas with a low risk of malaria and insect transmitted ...
...flying insects. The packet suggests that they are ideal for barbecues and camping, and I would suggest that they are ideal for al fresco dining. They are for outdoor use only, and this is very clearly stated- must be something to do with the fumes I think. ~~How do I use them?~~ First time users, beware, these are quite difficult to "set up". The instructions are in a series of points but without illustrations to hand, it's useful to have the ... Read review
