The machine is made up of two main sections. The first is the seat, which is what you sit on to exercise. The second section is the foot rest. We all have them really low days when we look in the mirror and think how fat we look. Well I was having one of those days. I was still up about 3am watching the rubbish on TV when I came across a shopping channel advert. Fans of Bid TV and Price Drop will know that at about 1am they get replaced with adverts by TV Warehouse, who really just advertise goods from other companies on the TV and via their website.
One of these products, which I don't think they advertise anymore, was Instant Abs. Instant Abs was designed by John Abdo (Yes that is his real surname). Many years ago John was over weight and had a bad back. So he decided to get up out of the chair and do something about it. So he built up a nice six pack, got a job as a trainer and now he looks great and has loads of money :)
John's Instant Abs is not really designed to make you lose weight. If you exercise everyday and cut down on your fatty foods you will lose weight and using the Instant Abs will help. Instant Abs main job is to break the fat up in your tummy area and then start to tone it.
The machine is made up of two main sections. The first is the seat, which is what you sit on to exercise. The second section is the foot rest. You place your feet into the foot rest, which is connected to the seat. You then move your legs in order to tone your abs. For example one of the exercises is knee bobs.
Knee Bobs works by you pushing your upper body forward while bringing you knees towards you so you crunch your tummy. Its exercises like this that start to tone your abs.
John has put together a fun video with 6 different ab works for you to do. Each lasts about 30 seconds so you do 3 minutes at a time. John asks that you start off doing 3 minutes and day and build up to 6. You get to take every few days off for your abs to rest.
The Instant Abs machine is ok apart from the seat, which has no back support so I get a lot of back pain when using it. There is also a lot of force put on the spine. The seat is made of metal with a foam cover, which gets worn after a few weeks so you get metal up your bottom.
The Instant Abs does fold away but its still big (About 1 Metre high by 20 cm if standing up). If you have it setup on the floor it takes up about 1.5 metres by 1 metre (You need a big area to move about in).
The machine is well made; the workouts are ok but are less fun then other machines on the market.
John says if you follow his eating program and do the Instant Abs about 6 minutes a day for 4 weeks you will see results. I myself started to get good abs from this machine but just couldn't keep it up. It might sound lazy but dragging this huge machine out every morning before breakfast and again for lunch or dinner is just too much hard work. The video is too short as you need to rewind it at least every six minutes.
So if you want to get a six pack you can use this to get rid of some unwanted fat but after the first few weeks you need to try something different. This machine costs about £79.99, comes with the diet booklet and instruction booklet. You can pay an extra £20 to get water weights for the end of the machine to get a stronger ab workout.
There is now an improved ab machine on the market by John Abdo with no movement of the legs and it seems to work better so your be better looking into the Abdo Extreme I think its could.
Overall this machine is ok but you won't be getting instant Abs from it trust me.
Advantages: Full Abdominal Workout, Easy Storage, No Neck Strain, Easily Adjustable Resistance Disadvantages: Seat isn't exactly the most comfortable!
...check them out.
The Instant Abs Machine, like many products on the the Home Shopping Network, claims to provide a full workout with minimum effort. Now as we have several of these products dotted around our house somewhere, trust me when I say this one is THE BEST BY FAR!
The machine itself looks very similar to a chair, this in itself is a distinguishing point from the rest of the Ab-Machine world, which usually require you to assume some ridiculous ... ...only minor letdown of the Instant Abs is the seat. Made only out of a thin layer of foam, and covering a cold metal frame, the seat does not provide a great amount of protection, resulting in a bit of a sore bum after intestive workouts! Apart from this, however, I found the instant abs to be a wonderful way to increase the definition of my abdominals, and with further use, I'll have the sexy 6-pack that all the people on those Damn addictive shopping ...

Advantages: Helps A Little Disadvantages: Hardly Works
...Instead I found adverts for Instant Abs. It looked easy to do and only cost around £80. How it works is you sit down on the machine and move your feet around. Your feet are on a rotating bar so every time you move your feet the whole of your legs move.
This helps work your abs and build them up. I was wondering if I can take legal action over the products name "Instant Abs". I looked up the word instant and it says for something to happen without ... ...only costs £25. While the instant abs was easy to use it didn't do the job.
I saw in the other review on Ciao that they liked to use it while watching TV. This will make the exercise worthless. If your mind does not know your doing this exercise it won't work. It might sound stupid but a recent study has found that if you think about doing exercise you lose weight.
So what are my overall thoughts on the instant abs? Well it's not that cheap to ...

Advantages: Easy to use, Easy to store away, works well Disadvantages: Can get boring to use
The Instant Abs machine was a product which I bought as it was advertised a lot on Sky. I was impressed with how much it worked as I did see a difference in my abdominal and oblique muscles in just a matter of weeks.
The video that accompanied the product was also very helpful and the fitness plan was very simple to follow.
You really do need to be watching television or listening to music when you use this product as it is extremely boring to ... ...It is a practical product to purchase as well due to its easy to store contruction. I would recommend this product to anybody who really does want to lose weight around their abdominal section and is not afraid of "the burn" when they work their muscles hard. ...
