Advantages: Contains all the necessary nutrients and horses like it. Disadvantages: Very expensive.
...I have 2 horses and they are costly and time consuming though worth it. Feeding in winter increases making the costs increase, as horses need more hard feed (concentrated feed), as well as hay or haylage as the grass is less in winter and not as good therefore providing less nutrients. When feeding horses, it is essential to select the correct food for them. They need to maintain their weight, not be too fat or thin. They need to have the type of food suited to their temperament as some can make the horse too fizzy and even make them dangerous to ride if fed incorrectly. Other feeds may not be enough if the horse has no energy, they may need a bit more in their hard feed.

Advantages: does the job Disadvantages: a little pricey
...I have owned a variety of horses and ponies in my horsey years so far and 2 of these have been in a ‘less than perfect’ condition when I took them on and each time I have used blue chip original to give that all needed boost of health.
The first was a 15hh welsh section D that was 4 years old at the time, she was newly backed, incredibly excitable but hugely underweight, I used blue chip as a supplement to her daily feeds and within 6 weeks (1 sack) the improvement was unbelievable, I had a good size mare with a glossly coat, bright eyes and yet still a trainable temperament.
The second was a 16.2hh exrace horse that I had found at a dealers yard, when I saw him he was standing at the back of his stable, dull eyes and coat and I could see his ribs. After about 3 months on blue chip supplement he was a new horse, again...

Advantages: Healthy coat, bright eyes, over all condition Disadvantages: Price £34 a bag!!! Aaarrgghh!
...I have been feeding Blue Chip to my horse now for about the past 3 years. I own a Welsh Section D. He was 5 years old when i got him and he looked a little behind and under weight for his age, so after getting some helpful advise from Sandy, my riding instructor, I put him on Blue Chip and within 2 weeks i started noticing a difference. His coat was really shiney, his eyes were really bright, his weight gain was good and his over all condition was just 100% better. All i do is add a very small amount to his feed every morning and thats it. It comes with its own little scoop so you know how much to put in each time. A bag lasts me about 6 weeks. I feed him pony nuts, hot mix and blue chip. I also like to add a little cod liver oil and garlic to his feed as well. He seems to like it, he has never turned his nose up at it and believe me...
