Triumph Spitfire - a REAL car

Advantages: A piece of history, a genuine sports car
Disadvantages: You need to be commited

I have just bought my second Spitfire. However, both are going to be a project to keep me sane. The Triumph Spitfire is a true example of British 1960's - 70's sports car. The Spitfire came in various guises, The Spitfire 4, Spitfire Mk II, Mk III, Mk IV, Mk V and GT6 (I think there may be a few more as well!) The Triumph is based on a real chassis with a 'body tub', hinged bonnet and wings. The dashboard is normally walnut, with old-style leather seats. This is strictly a two-seater (don't even think about trying to use the 'plus 2'!) and comes with both soft top and hard top options. Legroom is great (even for me at 6'2" !!!) The engines range from the 1300cc to 2200cc (although there are various 'modification' variants out there), with the 1300cc and 1600cc sporting twin SU style carbs. Working on this car is a dream ...

Karcher K2.35 Pressure Washer

Advantages: Compat, lightweight, easily portable, value for money!
Disadvantages: Small detergent tank.

It got to the point where I had worn down the bristles on my yard brush trying to clean the patio for the umpteenth time and so decided to venture into the pressure washer era. I didn't want to spend a large amount but didn't want to buy the cheapest of the cheap, thankfully Karcher answered my call. The K2.35 is a fantastic bit of kit, boasting a 1600w motor, 100bar pressure, 360 litres per hour, waterflow and 6 metres of high pressure hose. I found it to be compact, lightweight and easily portable. The auto start/stop feature is a plus, allowing the use to stop the unit without returning to it. Coming complete with soft wash brush, (perfect for the car and house windows), vario lance, (enables you to adjust the pressure output at the turn of a nozzle for use on more delicate items), dirtblaster, (for the stubborn areas that ...

My Triumph Spitfire

Advantages: Cheap insurance and purchase price, an investment, easy to maintain, looks cool.
Disadvantages: It's old and so you have to take it easy, you'll have to get breakdown cover.

Due to the recent spell of hot weather, I decided to start looking for new cars and convertibles in particular. I didn't have much to spend and was looking for something that I could sell at a later date and not loose too much money on. After performing a number of searches on Autotrader.co.uk I found Triumph Spitfires to be the only choise for me. They are very cheap - around £3000 for a decent one, are convertible, spares are easily available, insurance is cheap (£300) and they look very cool indeed - I get far more reaction from my roaring 1500cc than any Boxster or TT. Mine is a '68 Mark 3 which is the rarer of the Spitfire range (mark 4 being more common). It is covered on chrome bits'n'peieces and is British Racing Green which I am very pleased with. The whole bonet lifts and so it is VERY easy to work on a tweak ...
