Kenda Blue Groove Stick E Folding Tyre Features: Broad, low-profile knobs engineered to stick on hard packed and rocky conditions Key Feature: Stick-E Compound Rubber - Slow rebounding rubber compound for the ultimate in traction control. The slow rebound ratio of the rubber, acts as a suspension, allowing the tread to conform to the trail surface rather than bouncing off of it.
Advantages: Reasonable good grip Disadvantages: Weight
...I used this on the rear of my mountain bike a few years ago. Not the greatest, grip is ok however as is puncture resistance.
Very heavy tyre however, and the rolling resistance is high, giving a tyre that feels slow and heavy to get going - and slugish to climb.
On singletrack it is limited by this too, though the performance does pick up when it is going downhill.
Problem is that unless you have an uplift, you are so worn out by dragging the extra weight around the ride that you can't apprciate it on the downhill bits!
To be honest, there are far better tyres out there, which are lighter AND grippier. Kendas & Contis would fit into this catagory....

Advantages: Grip well in all conditions, durable, roll well Disadvantages: None I can think of
...just fine on dusty fire road and singletrack. They don't like wet roots, but then neither do I! The tyres corner very well, and I don't think I've ever had a front wheel wash out with these tyres, something that happened a few times to me with other tyres. The durability of the tyre is good, with a rear tyre normally lasting me about 6 months. The tyres are very predictable, and roll well, so aren't slow.
I've used these tyres on both of my bikes for for a couple of years now and I'm sticking with them. If you want a tyre you can use all year round, get a pair of these....

Advantages: Great Value, great suspension, good alround bike Disadvantages: Slightly weighty, not much else!
...is spot-on - It has got me out of a number of situations where on my old MTB I would have stacked it.
Drivetrain has been a little bit hit and miss - in particular the rear mech, but a new rear mech cable has sorted the problem out (one of the teflon coated inners), and the rest of it I can't fault.
The one draw back it has is that it is slightly on the heavy side, particularly noticible on long fire-road climbs, but to be honest, for £1000 you expect something that can be improved. I've set about this and have just purchased a new XT rear mech and Cassette - hopefully XT hollowtech II chainset/BB will follow, which will help greatly in this regard, as have the Kenda kevlar tyres - I recomend them too!...
