(+) Size, waterproof - quick to erect for size - smaller to carry/load compaired to others. (-) Pole ropes dodgy(?), tricky to shut zip without adjusting pegs, need to tether v. well.
A highly versatile tunnel tent ideal for the family. This tent features an open 4-berth inner tent with good-sized living area and porch extension. Front and side exits are complimented by a large window panel on the opposite side wall (great for mooning the people next door when you are going to bed as they rise at dawn). The flysheet is made from double-coated Weatherweave 2oz polyester with fully taped seams giving a hydrostatic head of 2500mm. The inner tents are breathable polyester and the living area groundsheet is polyethylene. The frame is a fibreglass (colour coded) pole construction with ring & pin system. Comes complete with porch groundsheet and two sets of steel poles to create sun canopies from the door flaps.
Advantages: Size, waterproof - quick to erect for size - smaller to carry/load compaired to others. Disadvantages: Pole ropes dodgy(?), tricky to shut zip without adjusting pegs, need to tether v. well.
...This is our second Khyamtent as we loved the quick-erect system.
Generally we are pleased with it due to its size (family of four) - if the weather is rainy there is plenty of room. We used it last summer when the floods happened and it was also quite windy. It witheld the rain excellently - it is highly rainproof - another reason why we bought it.
On the negative side we have had the inner cables (ropes) go twice on the main poles. You can fix these fairly easily and Khyam replaced the ropes with no hassle and no expense but I query if there is a weakness here. It can also be quite tricky to set up perfectly to ensure the zip closes on the front door again due to its size - this gets easier with practise.
The only other comment is that when we used it in some quite high winds (floods again!) you need to tether it very well...

Advantages: lots of living space great head hight Disadvantages: thin poles and unable to with stand wind! lots of movement
...my self and my parnter brought this tent because of the excellent amount of living space with a combined camping experience of over 30 years we both know how important putting the tent up just right really is, So after taking 2 hours to make sure that the tent was put up right it then collapsed with a gentle breeze tent poles snapped and ripped the tent ! would not advise this tent to anybody ! dont be taken in by the massive living space avoid at all cost !
The tent was fine in stormes however but useless in slight wind makes no sence at all! also the eyes put in the ground sheet do not match up so ok you have full ground sheet but then it not that full as there are lots of trip hazords....

...If you are looking for a spacious tent that is easy to erect then you need look no further.
Description:
The tourer 400 is a 4 person tent that has a central living space and two bedrooms, one to the right and one to the left. The main section is high enough for us to stand up in and both bedrooms are well sized. The tourer 400 is offered in khaki/dark green/pistachio colour scheme so may be a little on the boring side if you like a stand out colour for your tent but its functionality more than makes up for that.
Erecting the tent:
I've been a fan of Khyam's external click pole system since I first used it 12 years ago. The ease and speed of putting up the tent is worth every penny. To erect the tent you pull up on a central point at the roof apex and then click opposing elbow joints into place. Next you extend the 4 poles...
