Advantages: cheap to run, stylish Disadvantages: underpowered
It has a 1.2 16v engine so while it does lack power at times it is reasonably quick. I am not a slow driver and I cruise along the motorway every day at 80 mph with no trouble at all, and I have found that it will easily keep up with similar cars with 1.4-1.6 engines, again I am comparing this to an MR2 so for it to impress me shows how good this car is. I don't deny that a bit more power wouldn't go a miss but as for driving around normal roads within the speed limit you can't fault this car. With that said you will understand the great fuel economy of this car, it costs around £40 to fill the tank and I get on average around 450-500 miles, thats over 100 miles to £10.

Advantages: Great all round car Disadvantages: Mine was white so took alot of cleaning
I bought my Bravo new in Autumn 1999, so got one of the revised models, which has a few benefits over the original Bravo. This car was "European Car of the Year 1996", and certainly at the time was very highly thought of. More recent cars have eclipsed it of course, but that's down to progress - at the time the Bravo ruled!
The 1.2 engine was taken from the Punto Sporting, and replaced the slow and thirsty 1.4 engine. Thank goodness I got the revised model because the 1.2 engine is great. It's only a little bit slower than my Dad's 1.8 HLX model, but I get up to 500 miles out one tank of petrol, versus his 300 miles!! What I do miss from his HLX is the ABS, which was an option on the lower models.
80 indicates the approximate BHP you get from the engine, and "SX" is the specification level. (The old basic S model, discontinued in ...

Advantages: Cheap, lively engine and handling, good brakes. Disadvantages: Space is not as good as others in class.
I have owned this 1999 Fiat Bravo1.8 HLX for about 1 year. I bought it for £1000 with 60K miles on the clock and a full service history. I have covered 15K miles.
The car is very well equipped with electric windows, mirrors & sunroof, heated seats and a decent stereo. The interior is functional if not very exciting, and reasonably spacious although the headroom in the back isn't too great - due to the sloping roof.
The 113bhp engine performs well, accelerating briskly and making overtaking comfortable.
The car handles well in all conditions although it does understeer, especially in the wet, when pushed hard.
The brakes are very good and the ABS has helped a couple of times in the wet when i thought the wheels would lock under very hard braking but the car just stopped without any drama.
Despite what a lot of people say about Fiat ...
