I have been a member at this gym for nearly 2 years and I would have to say that the worst thing about it is motivating yourself to get there!
Personally, I prefer participating in classes rather than using the gym equipment, although I do take advantage of both.
There are a wide range of classes on offer both during the day and in the evening. They include plenty of the popular classes such as Body Pump and Body Combat (which if you've never tried I would definately recommend as a great way to keep fit! - Body Pump is working with weights to structured tracks in time with music and Body Combat is Kick boxing/Martial arts style moves to music - both are great fun!).
The classes all take place in the Studio which is spacious enough for a good workout with mirrors in front and to the side so that you can check your technique.
There is a second studio which is kitted out with exercise bikes for the Spin classes - again, there are a wide range of Spin classes on offer with variations on ability.
In the gym area, there is plenty of equipment which includes: Treadmills, Cross-trainers, Exercise Bikes, Rowing Machines and Weights (both machines and manual). The only thing that I would mention about this are is that the Rowing machines are a bit too close together, but this is only done to make room for mats for floor work.
Every piece of equipment has a socket for headphones which allow you to listen to local or national radio stations or tune in to one of the 4 televisions at the front of the gym area. There is usually one Music channel on, a News channel and then whatever else is popular at the time of day.
The swimming pool is clean and well maintained, the only problem is that as it's quite small it gets full quickly, which means you can't do a length without bumping into someone. However, if you're an early bird and manage to get there in the morning it's usually quite quiet.
There is also a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi on offer in the pool area - all a mixed and are kept clean by regular checks from the staff.
The changing rooms are spacious - there are always enough lockers (you need to supply your own pad lock or buy one from reception) and there's enough benches for everyone. The showers are clean and always have hot water and shower gel is supplied.
The gym also have a hairdressers and beauty therapist on site (I've never been to either so I'm afraid I can't really comment on these facilites - but they seem to offer a lot of treatments).
For those who like a healthy glow, there a 3 sun beds at the gym (a Vertical and 2 beds) and there are often special offers for courses on these.
All in all, this gym has everything you would expect, and I personally think the price (I pay £36 per month) is reasonable - providing you get there!
