Lake CX190 Road Cycling Shoes

Advantages: Compatable for LOOK, SPD and TIME cleats
Disadvantages: Only one color scheme

...The Shimano R121 shoe is a very durable and reliable shoe. It is compatable to 3 different cleats: Look, SPD and Time, which makes it very versitale for those of us with more than one bike with different pedals. Although it is almost not worth the trouble of changing cleats, as it is much easier just to buy new shoes instead of removing one cleat and re-installing the other and making all the required adjustments. I have now had this pair of shoes for about 8 or 9 months and have logged way over400 hours and countless miles in them and they are showing less wear than could be expected. I chose to use the Look cleat with my shoe and once I changed froom my Lake shoes to the Shimano shoes I noticed a tremendous amount of added comfort. ...choice. Problems The first problem was evident as soon as the bike arrived. Basically, I did not receive the exact bike I ordered. I received a triple chain set (with the notoriously uncool "granny ring") rather than the compact double that I had selected (as I'm a pretty serious athlete and didn't think I would need the granny ring). I have to say after climbing hills in Oxfordshire, the Lake district, Dorset and Cyprus I'm glad of the triple as I found I am a pretty weak climber. But that's not the point and after complaining to Evans, I received £50 compensation, which I used to buy cycling apparel (discounted of course). Secondly, during the first ride on a training camp in the lake district, the plastic of the left Look clip pedal fractured and fell apart within 10 minutes! Advantages: Warm, dry, fit like a glove!
Disadvantages: Pricey

...find them heavy to wear. When I slid my feet inside it was akin to donning a pair of your favorite slippers. The fit was great for me, although I was suspiscious of the closure system, I preffer velcro straps. I'd used a similar closure system before on a pair of Sidi Race shoes, and it had been rendered useless by mud clogging it up, so I was a little wary to see a similar system on this boot.. That said, the ability to adjust the fit around the heal, using velcro, worked well for me. The neoprene cuff at the top of the boot, felt warm and snug. With the boots on, and wearing just a pair of thin summer socks, I well recall my first frosty outing wearing the Lake boots. It was well below freezing, well a couple of degrees below, and at no stage during the 3 hr ride did my feet even begin to feel cold. The boots did a great job of keeping... Read review
