...I was fed up of my feet going numb. I love riding on those cold, clear and frosty mornings, but there's nothing worse tthan losing all sensation in your feet after an hour or so. My Sidi Inverno's weren't bad, but on those really cold mornings, when the temperature falls a few degrees below freezing, the Sidi's fell a bit short.
I'd been eyeing up these Lakeboots for ages, but they aren't cheap, and it took a particularly cold, foot numbing ride, to convince me to take the plunge. I live and ride in South Wales, not the coldest place in the UK I'll be the first to admit. But riding the Skyline Trail in Glyncorrwg, during mid winter, can be dam chilly at times.
I'm normally a size 42/43, but I ordered a pair of 44's, to give my toes plenty of room. Out of the box the boots looked bulky, but not as ugly as I'd been expecting. Nor did I...

...acatually works and does keep the sun out of my eyes, an added bonus.
The airholes do also allow free movement of air through to the skull which is unfortunate on winter and spring mornings as it totally freezes your scalp, which is really a minor gripe.
This is an excellent helmet that provides saftey and comfort for a reasonable price, and is well worth the money, even though like all cycle helmets it makes you look like a mutant....

Advantages: Good boots Disadvantages: A lot of money
...moulded "long studs" more like tracks. They are circular in pattern to give a better turning circle.
They cut the pitch up much worse than conventional boots in Winter when the ground is heavy.
The boot feels generally lighter though. It does seem to be harder to break in than previous models but I did opt for the cheaper boot this time. I dont think they are that much different to the top of the range boot....
