The Lateral Thigh Trainer ad campaign hit the TV screens here in New Zealand around March this year and I pretty much caved straight away. The ads were catchy and there was so much that appealed to me about this product. I think the main attraction was that it was small and portable and didn’t need a huge area to workout in. This suited me down to the ground and the fact that I could be working out while watching TV appealed to me too.
Who doesn’t want to have guilt free soap viewing?
“Heck honey, I’m not wasting time watching The Bold and the Beautiful … can’t you see that I am working out here?"
* TV shopping and credit cards were made for each other . *
Ordering the LTT is a cinch. Just ring the free phone number provided and
have your credit card handy and you will be the proud owner of your very own LTT in no time at all.
* Some assembly required *
I was very excited when my LTT finally arrived and Mr Zed the cat and I had fun opening up the box. The LTT required a couple of things to get it ready but that’s where hubby came in handy. It turned out that I could have done it easily enough but why deprive him of his fun with the screw driver. Mr Zed was inside the box having fun with the packaging … aren’t cats delightful.
All that was required to get the LTT ready for action was to attach the Rubber Feet. Slip them on, line up the hole and put in the screw provided. Next was to put the battery provided into the little calorie counter thing, slip that into the appropriate hole and bobs your uncle, it’s done!
Along with the Owners Manual there is a nutrition guide with a few healthy eating plans and a 14 day diet etc. I haven’t bothered trying to stick to the diet though as diets and I don’t get on too well.
The best thing of all is the LTT Powerhouse Workout Video. This is fun to use and I initially used the tape about 4 times a week before slipping back to my bad habits and now I only workout to the tape occasionally. The workout session is fun and is divided into two sections … the 10 minute Easy Stride Workout and the 10 minute Powerstep Workout. The personal trainer … Brenda DyGraf , makes the workout fun and encourages you to keep at it.
* Using it *
This is the fun part, I really enjoy the simplicity of it as it is just a matter of hopping on and stepping. There is a Speed Control Knob which you can slide along, this alternates the workout speed from fast to slow. The slow setting is more like climbing a hill while the fast is ordinary walking.
I try to do about 20 - 30 minutes a day, sometimes more sometimes less. I feel good after wards and overall it has picked up my energy levels a bit.
When I do manage to do the Video Workout I always feel like I have just done a good gym session ... keep the water bottle handy!
* Losing Weight? *
Well ... time will tell I suppose. I have lost about 5 kilos but not really enough to notice. This is a bit unfair though because I haven't stuck to any diet plan and I workout willy nilly so maybe if I got serious about it, I might start trimming down a bit.
The workout video provides a whole body workout using the added option of the Power Cords. I didn't purchase these extras but if you dont have the cords, hand weights will suffice. If you don't have hand weights, do what I do ... grab a couple of cans of food.
I had a few problems with my LTT. The first sign something was amiss was when it started making clunking and clicking noises. This was after about 3 months use and ended in the chain snapping which resulted in some ugly oil stains on the carpet. Hubby checked it out and took it too a shop that fixes chainsaw chains, they fixed it for me for about $2 so I was back in action once more. The next problem was not so easy to fix. The actual metal holding one of the pedals sheared right off rendering my LTT useless.
I was SO disappointed and took the phone number the next time I saw it advertised on TV. I rang and told them about my malfunction and surprise, surprise ... they sent me a new one.
I have only just received my brand new LTT so hopefully I wont have the same problems with this one ... time will tell.
* Overall *
I love it, I find it fun and easy to use and the size is perfect for tucking out of the way when not in use. I just hope that the second one is not going to breakdown on me also.
* Rating it. *
I have found it quite difficult to rate it truthfully. I actually love the LTT but wasn't too impressed when it broke on me. I am hopping that the first one was just a lemon and that my LTT Mark 2 will last forever... or at least until I totally give up on it and it starts gathering dust.
