It was the first of a series of smaller tools that had the same "fold out" design that was aimed at the "Office Warrior/Survival Expert". ... Read review

...its bigger brothers from the Leatherman Family : The Wave, Pulse, PST. PST 200 etc. It was the first of a series of smaller tools that had the same "fold out" design that was aimed at the "Office Warrior/Survival Expert". Advantages: Small enough for everyday use Disadvantages: No trademark pliers
I needed a leatherman that was small enough for everyday use, be it for opening packages or fixing something small. I decided that my Pulse just wasnt suitable to carry around with me so i decided on buying either the micra or the new squirt.
I opted for the micra due to its array of other features, but it lacked what i loved about Leathermans, pliers. I was stuck with a great tool, lots of features, but no pliers, just scissors.
Features:
The ... ...however the smallest and lightest Leatherman tool you can buy, and also the cheapest at £30 from most stores.
You also have the option of different colours, the Micra is one of those annodised metal deals where you can get a range of colours. It looks pretty good.
This is an excellent tool if you dont want pliers!! ...

Advantages: Many uses, small, light Disadvantages: Ruler not so good
...The LeathermanMicra is one of those invaluable little tools that once you use, you find it hard to live without. Mine was bought for my birthday by my step dad after I kept borrowing his. It is very useful to have in your pocket around the house, especially when trying to open up boxes or packets.
The Features
The LeathermanMicra has the following features:
* Scissors
* Knife (about 4cm blade)
* Tweezers (useful for splinters)
* Nail file with a hook thing for cleaning them as well
* Flat screwdriver designed to fit Phillips screws
* Extra small screwdriver (useful for those extra small screws)
* Medium screwdriver
* Bottle Opener
* Ruler (inch/metric) (though this is not very easy to use)
As you can see, this knife has all of the features that you are likely to need for general use around the home. The knife...

...I bought one of these to carry for general use. What I liked was that it was small and had a pair of scissors.
Initially it worked well then the scissors broke as the retainers at the back went meaning the scissor blades did not meet to cut. The blade retainer also went and the blade now bends back too far to be useful.
Once I had this problem I checked on the web to see if anyone else had the same issue and had managed to fix it. I found a lot of people had the same issue but no fix for it so my Shortcut is now pretty useless.
After reading reviews I am going to try a LeathermanMicra as it seems to be more sturdy even if it it costs a little more....

...I got my leatherman wave after the kids bought me the micra and I found it to small to use. No such probs with the 'wave'. The quality of the product is fantastic and the safety mechanism of having locking blades is great. The only downside is the price which at over £100 is dear for a product that is easily lost. There is also an add on set that can be purchased for around £15 that containd driver bits etc. I dont have this add on yet but am planning on getting it soon. The knife also looks cool and I could have got it in silver or black - both looked great. Overall a good quality item, a must have for gadget lovers and even thirty-something women like me....
