Advantages: High build quality and components, Brilliant warranty service Disadvantages: High Cost
When the leatherman tool company launched its first product, the PST it revolutionised the pocket knife market as it incorporated not only a good quality blade of reasonable length, but also incorporated a set of full sized pliars, something never done before. The PST, PSTII and Supertool soon became a sucess but one feature they all had in common was the "sharp" or thin handle edges. When applying pressure whilst using the pliars the user would ... ...they would "Wobble". I requested leatherman tighten mine and instead was told that this was not available - have a new Wave Sir!!!!
Finally, its available with either a highquality balistic nylon case (better for "field use") or a brown leather case which may i say looks very well with scout uniform!
UPDATE : One of the main gripes i had mentioned was the lack of locking blades on the wave. This has been solved by the new leatherman CHARGE TI. ...

I got my leatherman wave after the kids bought me the micra and I found it to small to use. No such probs with the 'wave'. The quality of the product is fantastic and the safety mechanism of having locking blades is great. The only downside is the price which at over £100 is dear for a product that is easily lost. There is also an add on set that can be purchased for around £15 that containd driver bits etc. I dont have this add on yet but am planning ...

Advantages: Small, light, blade quite sharp, a brilliant key ring tool Disadvantages: Smaller Blades, tweezers pointless

It was the first of a series of smaller tools that had the same "fold out" design that was aimed at the "Office Warrior/Survival Expert". This range has expanded to 3/4 size tools (The Juice Range) and a slightly improved Micra series known as the Squirt - if you need a really compact pair of pliars go for the Squirt.
Anyway back to the micra. Theres two boxes - a nice Presentation box and a simple cardboard carton. If your going for a gift get the Metal presentation box. Inside you find a sheath for the tool (Virually useless - theres no belt clip so you may as well throw this away) the Micra itself and the instructions.
On the tool itself are a pair of scissors, a knife...

Advantages: Small enough for everyday use Disadvantages: No trademark pliers
...wrong (ive known my friends wave to rust about 4 times now, they gave him a new one each time.)
It is however the smallest and lightest Leatherman tool you can buy, and also the cheapest at £30 from most stores.
You also have the option of different colours, the Micra is one of those annodised metal deals where you can get a range of colours. It looks pretty good.
This is an excellent tool if you dont want pliers!!...
