Following an appointment with my consultant today it looks like I will be fit enough to go hiking again in 3-4 weeks , around the start of august. Obviously Im going to have to build up slowly, so partly to celebrate and partly to assist my training; and follow the Drs advice I have treated ... Read review

A little bit about LEKI :

LEKI is always written in capital letters because it is an acronym. LE from the first two letters from Klaus Lenharts last name and KI is from the location of the company, Kirchheim, Germany. LEKI is pronounced, Lake-ee
They are well known ... ...also possible to get a LEKI pole of 100% carbon fibre but these are very, very, very expensive

Youd be excused for visualising a little pannier for keeping goodies handy but this term actually describes the screw on fittings at the end of each pole that prevent it sinking into soft earth. There are different ...

Advantages: Reduces impacting of knee joints Disadvantages: No free hands
Last week I walked the 80 mile Great Glen Way across Scotland from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east. The walk is mainly flat although I\'d say about 25% of it is up and down some fairly big hills. I had never used walking poles before last week and seeing as I had not walked a long distance walk for nearly 10 years I thought I would give these particular pair a go, given they had such a good review from Miskah.
Well I\'m very happy ... ...highly enough to other long distance walkers - this is what I did on the way last week in fact to quite a number of non-walking pole walkers !
After the 5 day walk I was expecting to come home with a limp and a bit of difficulty walking for several days after - well that just has not happened as the poles have reduced the forces on my legs especially on downhill parts. My arms are now stronger and I am now feeling as fit as I did 10 years ago thanks ...

Quick review of Leki Super Makalu Cortec Pole Review ofLeki Super Makalu Cortec Poleby

I hillwalk in Scotland regularly, most weekends and holidays and use walking poles. I would not be without them especially on steep downhill paths and tracks. I am going to Austria on a walking holiday in a couple of weeks. I want to take my poles but how do I pack them? Do I carry them separately or put them in with my luggage?
Have never been walking abroad before so would welcome any help/advice from members.

Advantages: Light, Strong , reliable, well designed, anti shock Disadvantages: Not cheap
...I have used LEKIpoles for years and recently upgraded my old pole which had served me for 10 years to a pair of LEKIsuper MAkULU cor tec poles with anti shock.
These are superb and a great improvement on the old design. They are lighter and wieght very little , have a stronger lock mechanism and as well as the cork handles they have a black cloth sheath protecting the cork from dirt which is a great idea
Features
cork handles; a great idea as some cheaper wlaking poles handles can give a sweat rash and rub , these go one step further and are protected by a black sheath of cloth to prevent wear
Padded upper stem; this idea I first saw on Craig hoppers poles it allows you to comfortably grip the pole below the handle when ascending steeply without having to alter the length. Altering the length is easy using a 2 handed twist...

I bought this for plugging in my computer because the power supply I had to buy did not include one. There isn't much to say on a power cable so this is about all I could think of.
