Life Fitness 93R Recumbent Lifecycle

Advantages: Spacious, comfortable, friendly well equipped gym.
Disadvantages: Oh dear, it has a bar!

...I joined Greens having recently changed job, with a Greens Fitness Centre located opposite my new office. Joining seemed a good alternative to a daily stop at Subway for a sandwich and i promptly inquired about fees, facilities and opening hours. I was offered a couple of packages, one of which was the off peak annual membership i purchased. I think, but i'm not a 100% sure that I got a corporate discount. FEES Off peak member ship cost £35 a month, with an initial £15 deposit for the security band that gets you in and out of the building, lockers etc. This gives me full access for the following times: - Monday to Friday - 0630 to 1700hrs - Saturday & Sunday - All day Basically i can't use the gym after 5pm during the working week. Advantages: Reasonably priced, plenty of free parking.
Disadvantages: You have to pay for the whole year even if you leave.

There is also a cafe/bar area that that sells some nice food and a wide variety of drinks, although service can be a little slow, even when the place is as good as empty. Upstairs you will find the CV room that has plenty of treadmills, X trainers, bikes (upright and recumbent), rowing machines, steppers and hand winding machines. If you find training in the main room a little intimidating there is a separate ladies room that has all of these facilities also.There are lots of wide screen TV's along the walls showing a variety of programmes or you can listen to the piped music that is played over the tannoy system. ...I joined Peak Fitness after my not-so-brilliant experiences with the Gloucester Esporta (see other op). Peak Fitness is about 5 minutes from our new house, and had been reccomended to me by several people at work. So, shortly after Christmas I decided i'd better wear off all that turkey and mince pies and join the gym. **Who are they** Peak Fitness is a chain club, but a lot smaller than the likes of Esporta and Fitness First. They have gyms in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Docklands, Palmers Green, Woking, Worcester, Whitley Bay, Tonbridge & 2 in Newcastle. They are also known as Arena in Northern Ireland. You can use any of these gyms as a member for no extra cost. **Facilities** The Gloucester club is situated on the outskirts of the city, in a large open shopping area.
