...I have been a member of Fitness First for just over four years. I joined in London, and have recently moved my membership to Leicester. Fitness First Leicester is part of an international chain of fitness clubs. Your membership is valid wherever you go, although some clubs abroad charge a small supplement because they offer deluxe services. The Leicester club is next to the Walkers Stadium, so it can be a bit chaotic on match days. It shares a parking lot with a Staples office products store, and you are issued a window sticker without which you can't park when there is an event at the stadium. Joining is easy. You speak to one of their consultants, and they sort out the best deal for you. I had a problem because instead of transferring my membership from London, they cancelled it. ...I joined Peak Fitness after my not-so-brilliant experiences with the Gloucester Esporta (see other op). Peak Fitness is about 5 minutes from our new house, and had been reccomended to me by several people at work. So, shortly after Christmas I decided i'd better wear off all that turkey and mince pies and join the gym. **Who are they** Peak Fitness is a chain club, but a lot smaller than the likes of Esporta and Fitness First. They have gyms in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Docklands, Palmers Green, Woking, Worcester, Whitley Bay, Tonbridge & 2 in Newcastle. They are also known as Arena in Northern Ireland. You can use any of these gyms as a member for no extra cost. **Facilities** The Gloucester club is situated on the outskirts of the city, in a large open shopping area. ...I joined Greens having recently changed job, with a Greens Fitness Centre located opposite my new office. Joining seemed a good alternative to a daily stop at Subway for a sandwich and i promptly inquired about fees, facilities and opening hours. I was offered a couple of packages, one of which was the off peak annual membership i purchased. I think, but i'm not a 100% sure that I got a corporate discount. FEES Off peak member ship cost £35 a month, with an initial £15 deposit for the security band that gets you in and out of the building, lockers etc. This gives me full access for the following times: - Monday to Friday - 0630 to 1700hrs - Saturday & Sunday - All day Basically i can't use the gym after 5pm during the working week.
