For my Birthday last year, I received a Boots experience for LivingWell (£50); I chose to go to the LivingWell in Milton Keynes close to where my sister lives as she came with me.

We arrived at 9am and were greeted by a friendly receptionist, who gave us some forms to fill in. (For health and medical reasons). Whilst filling in the forms we were offered a drink from the café, when completed we were given a lunch menu to chose from (Included in the price), and asked what time we would like to eat. Lunch was a choice of sandwiches, fruit juice, or a glass of wine or bucks fizz.

We were than presented with a white towelling robe and two towels for our use during the day.

A member of staff then gave us a guided tour of all the facilities, which included.

A fully equipped gym, instructions and training were available for all equipment.
23-metre pool.
Aqua Aerobics. (Which I tried, see below).
Aerobics.
Solarium.
Sauna and Steam Room.
Spa Bath.
(You can use as many or as few of the facilities as you wish).

Hair and Beauty Salon. (Which I also visited).
Crèche.
Café, Bar and Pro-Shop.

We had already booked our facials for 3pm (it is a good idea to save these until last to make the most of the other facilities).

The changing rooms were spotless, and included.

Secure lockers.
Hair Dryers.
Hair Mousse.
Mirrors and seating whilst doing your hair and make up.
Tissues.
Shampoo/Conditioner and Body Wash in the showers.
Private changing cubicles if required.

On entering the pool area, an aqua aerobics session was about to begin; the instructor encouraged us to join in after checking for any health or medical problems. This session included all the usual activities.

Jogging in deep and shallow water.
Stretching.
Resistance work, etc.

After the aqua aerobics, which lasted about an hour, we had a rest on the sun beds placed around the pool. We then tried the steam room, which was located alongside the pool. (As is the spa bath and sauna).
On entering the steam room, we were greeted by the lovely aroma of eucalyptus, which certainly clears the head! Then it was the part I dread – THE COLD SHOWER.
All I can say about this is that it certainly was COLD.
Then time for another rest on the sun loungers – This de-stressing is hard work!

Next came the spa bath, then time for quick swim before lunch.

We had lunch in the winter gardens, as they are located just outside the reception area, we were able to dine in our robes. Back inside for another rest, and a quick swim, and it was time for our beauty treatment. Again we wore our robes to the treatment rooms.

On arriving, the receptionist checked our names and which of the treatments we had booked for. We were then shown to the relaxation room, which had relaxing music and soothing lighting along with a selection of herbal teas and bottled water. After a few moments my beauty therapist arrived and escorted me to the treatment room chatting as we went. After a quick chat about my skin type and problem areas, she cleansed my face using a product suitable for my skin type. Then she applied a facemask again designed for my skin type. Placed cooling cotton wool pads on my eyes, the lights were dimmed and the therapist left the room (for about 20 minutes) to allow me to relax and the mask to work. On returning she removed the mask and allowed me to slowly re-acclimatise before returning to the relaxation room to wait for my sister.

By this time it was 4.30 and unfortunately time to return to reality!

I would recommend LivingWell Milton Keynes to any one, the staff members were polite and helpful, and both the members and the staff made us feel very welcome.

I would certainly consider becoming a member if I lived closer to Milton Keynes.
The current membership fee is approximately £50 per month.
