Advantages: Cheap, relativly light Disadvantages: Leash comes off
...Hi,
Having doing hillwalking and low grade rock climbing for a number of years i though i would take the plunge into winter walking. Last year i bought myself a pair of Grivel G10 crampons and the above axe.
The axe is 60cm in length with a wrist lensh on the shaft. The axe head is study and joined to shaft with an eyelet rivet, the same as most axes of this type. The shaft of the axe sounds hollow giving it it's light weight. This does not mean that it is weak, as I used it once as as a hanhold, jaming the axe horizontal across the top of two boulders and hauling myself up on it, the shaft did not bend and their is no sign of cracking.
The shaft appears to have a protective coating on it that also allows for extera grip by having loads of small raised bubbles on it.
The head of the axe, is quit tough, and has not been disfigured...

...I am reviewing hotbuttered bodyboards. 3 summers ago my parents brought me what i now realise is a holiday maker bodyboard. since then i have been getting progresivly better so i decided to invest money i a new board. my parents went halves with me on a new board and brought a hotbuttered vee in the sales for about £120.
This blew most of my birthday money so was unable to put a leash in it. i brought me some wax though and went on it on the same day.
Instantly i could feel the difference. I grabbed the waves that came and hung on to all the waves that i caught. i stuck to the board excellently. i am still saving for a leash but i dont care as the board has never slipped out of my hands because of the TRS which is the tappered rail system that alows your to grip the rail alot better than before which means turns can be sharper...

Advantages: Comfy, tough, practical and adaptable - the best Disadvantages: Bombproof fabrics and construction mean its a bit heavy
...Pod ruscacs are probably an unknown to many people, which is a shame because they are so very very good. A lot of climbers use them as they are comfy (with lots of heavy climbing gear in) and tough enough to haul up rock faces without too much harm (sharp limestone or gritstone will still leave its mark mind). Oh, and they dont cost a fortune
The company isnt a big multinational wholesaler who imports or rebadges fashionable walking stuff. These guys and girls make and use the stuff (rumour has it they wreck the stuff too on meat hooks in the garage, to see how it breaks and make it better) and if you are after a tough slim profile rucsac with an extending lid this is one to seek out. The slightly smaller Cragsac has a fixed lid and is a few quid cheaper if that better suits your needs. For proper winter walking with crampons and axes...
