MagLite 3-D Cell Flashlight

Advantages: Light and strong
Disadvantages: not cheap

...One part of either a backpacking or cycling camping trip is that at night it gets dark and if you’re away from city lights it can get incredibly dark. Some say it can be romantic, the dark night with stars shimmering away, the stars that you never really see in built up areas. But it also means you cannot see where you are going. Camp sites can be full of trip hazards (guy lines from tents for example) so a reliable torch is a must. So what torch do I use? My preferred torch for camping is one from the MagLite range of torches the model being the MagLite 2-C Cell Flashlight, I chose this because it is not too big and heavy (that is counter productive when space and weight are at a premium), also for me I want a torch that can give out a good light (this used to be very important when making my way back to the tent after a couple... Advantages: convenient size, good brightness, extremely durable, water & shock resistant
Disadvantages: more expensive than comparable inferior models

...Most people who know me well are aware of my obsession with torches and flasks. There’s probably some deep and meaningful psychological reason for this but what causes it I don’t know. The results are an incapability to walk past a display without browsing, which frequently ends up with me buying. There is no doubt that in the event of an electrical failure I cold illuminate my street and keep its residents supplied with hot drinks! I have a lot of torches including little key ring ones, credit card style, forehead lamps to he more standard, traditional torch. I’ve got wind up, rechargeable, kinetically charged and battery powered ones and from this choice I’ve selected the MagLite Solitaire Key Ring Flashlight. Advantages: Light output, build quality
Disadvantages: If I was to be really picky, then I would say its a little heavy

...I have owned and still do own two Maglite torches. I have used Maglite torches for well over 10 years and have never had any problems whatsoever with them. Prior to me owning the 4 cell Maglite, I had owned the 6 cell, but due to the Energiser batteries leaking out (even though they were guaranteed not to) and ruining the 6 cell Maglite, although Energiser guaranteed to repair/replace any item that was ruined through using their batteries. Disappointingly though, Energiser sent me the 4 cell Maglite in place of the 6 cell (as they said the "6 cell was temporarily unavailable"?) and gave me some extra packs of the batteries to make up the cost. The 4 cell and the 6 cell are identical in terms of battery life (approx 15 hours continuous use) but the 6 cell has a light output of 20000 candlepower and the 4 cell has 15000 candlepower...
