I purchased this Mini Maglite AA to accompany my larger 4 cell Maglite that I reviewed earlier.
The Mini Maglite AA, is made of Aluminium like the rest of the Maglite range. The Mini Maglite AA is approximately 150mm long and 20mm in diameter, I paid approximately £12 for my Mini Maglite AA off of the internet.
I have owned and still do own another Maglite torch. I have used Maglite torches for well over 10 years and have never had any problems whatsoever with them. Has you will probably know, the Maglite range of torches are made of Aluminium so as not to corrode or rust. Starting at the bulb end of the torch I will explain what features and what each part of the torch does.
Most of the Maglite range have a feature on which gives the user the option to have either a wide beam of light or a narrow but long reaching beam of light. This is done by rotating the bulb end of the torch in either a clockwise or an anti clockwise direction, this then in turn gives you either a narrow or wide beam of light, the wide beam setting is ideal if you want to light the full width of the path that you are walking on, the narrower longer beam is ideal if you want to spot light an object that is some distance away. I have two Maglite's, the other been the 4 cell version. The Mini Maglite AA is an ideal torch for me to carry as it fits inside any pocket. The main purpose/use I have for my Maglite is this,
Me and the girlfriend on our way home, need to walk a bit off the beaten track, which as you can imagine with it been away from the street lights and also with been in a mostly rural location, that this is very dark.
I must admit, I recently replaced the normal supplied bulb with the Nitize LED upgrade kit (which cost around £9). What this does is, it replaces the standard bulb with a 3 LED arrangement, this in turn gives you a VERY WHITE light and also extends the battery life by 4 times. Admittedly now with using the LED option I no longer have the spot to flood light beam option, but for me this is not a problem as I use the Mini Maglite AA to light the path directly in front of me, and it does this perfectly.
I will start at the bulb end of the torch and work along explaining what each of the features does.
Firstly, at the bulb end of the torch is the rotating spot to flood option, rotating the bulb end of the torch will turn the torch on or off and also gives you either a wide beam of light (ideal for lighting the path directly in front of you) or a narrower but longer reaching light beam (which is ideal if you want to spot light something a distance away) I found when using the Mini Maglite AA with the standard supplied bulb, that it was possible to spot light something approximately 50 feet away or so.
Next is the familiar machined/grooved hand grip, I have always found this to provide excellent grip even with wet hands.
Next, at the far end of the torch is the screw off cap, this screws off to allow you to put new batteries into the torch. The screw off cap is like all the other Maglite's, made of aluminium, also if you look inside the screw off cap, you will find a spare bulb, which is the norm for all Maglite's.
Also the Mini Maglite AA, is like all other Maglite's, water resistant. I have been out with my Mini Maglite AA many times in heavy downpours and have never experienced any problems at all.
The Mini Maglite AA is an ideal and powerful pocket sized torch that will fit into any pocket. Don't be fooled by its small size, it will surprise you with its light output. I find the Mini Maglite AA is an ideal companion for me to carry, for times when its not convenient for me to carry my 4 cell Maglite torch.
All in all the quality of the Mini Maglite AA is superb (as is the case with all the Maglite's). Personally I would not consider buying any other brand of torch other than Maglite.

Cuddles her maglite - yes I have to say they are exceptional. I have one of these and a rather large one for going to the end of the garden with the dog and having dropped it a few times and such it is exceptionally robust and the light and batteries last well. Great revew!
