GT Chucker
Review of GT Chucker 2.0 by greasycookingpot

Advantages: Looks Good, Smooth Gears, Hardcore, Not Too Light Or Too Heavy, Comfy Ride, Good Grip
Disadvantages: Brakes Should Be Hydraulics, Forks Should Have Slightly More Travel

The Chucker is now available online at around £320 in the black colour or £350 for the blue (which looks better in real life than it does in the pictures). The Chucker handles jumps really well and, although the bash ring [the front part where the gear change happens- normally has about 3 cogs in it] is not best for speed & long distance road riding (I managed 40 miles in a day) but keeps the chain on during jumps. All the SRAM parts [all the parts ...
...a lot of thrashing about and have a really smooth change. The rear derraillier [the mechanism that moves the chain from one gear to another] even stayed together with my friend jumping on it. It is perfect for stunts as the front & forks are not too light (as in the Diamondback Groove) so you do not fall backwards during jumps and wheelies; the weight overall is pretty light . The tires have great grip on loose gravel but still manage well on tarmaced ... Read review

Specialized FSR XC Comp
Review of Specialized FSR XC Comp by mikefife

Advantages: Great sturdy all round XC mountain bike. Sheer exhilarating fun.
Disadvantages: Tyres.

I bought the 2007 model at the end of 2007 - paid £730. I love this bike. It is so flexible. The frame is excellent, very strong and has great geometry. I'm 5'10" and I bought the medium frame. It is great for down hills and XC as the name suggests. It's well built, well balanced and comfortable to ride. The gears are well chosen, I have not found that I needed a wider range. Changing gear could be better, replace the LX with the Shimano XT and ...
...would also change the tires. Traction is lacking on the ones provided and they clog with mud quite quickly. Watch the wheel bearings, they are individual bearings with cones, but are fine when kept clean and well greased. Brakes, steering and suspension are all good with no niggles at all. The 100mm travel is more than adequate. I have come off 6 foot drop offs with no trouble. I would recommend that you buy some clipless pedals and some suitable ... Read review

The entire Kona range is famous for their long-lasting and sturdy frames; however at times this does sometimes come at a cost as they are often under-specced for the money in comparison to competitor's offerings in this price bracket. kona firemountain
Review of Kona Fire Mountain by 090pete6000

Advantages: exelent value for money, very strong can take some abuse
Disadvantages: the overall bike is quite heavy, and has bad saddle

I bought the 2005 model Fire Mountain in the beginning of last year. I rode it XC for a good 3 months after purchase. The bike performed well, has a good gear ratio (has capability to go extremely fast, and get up the steepest of hills). But the comfort was not great, especial on longer rides. I found myself having to stop not because I was tiered or out of breath, but because I was in so much pain I had no choice. In the summer I rode some slightly ...
...trails the bike seemed to handle it ok. The only part of my bike that didn't was my bars when I stacked it going to fast and bent them. I've gone back to Xcing now and all the components are still going strong. componaents: the fork make this a smooth ride for the price but the adjustability is not efective the disk brake do not need much wearing in and can still lock my weels today no matter how fast im going, and I've still not changed the pads. ...
