Quick, precise cross country
Review of Marin Mount Vision by
GordonHall
Advantages: Lightweight, strong, precise, fast
Disadvantages: hopeless police (lack of) effort against stolen bikes
The first time I got on this bike (Mount Vision Pro version), I cycled some 30 yards and I was immediately struck by how fast it was. How? Why?
This bike is wierd in that its so good. The frame is completely stiff and just magnifies your muscle power. The rear suspension is so precise that its really fun jumping over bumps and down hills and climbs. Its so fun.
You think this thing with its springs and pivots would be very noisy but it isn't - ... ...confidence. There is always the associated extra weight, argument, too but this is so light at 26.6lbs (frame just 6lbs). The frame was designed with input from someone who designs F1 race cars but it works really well much better than the new Specialized brain suspension that is being pushed at the moment.
The 6061 T6 alloy aluminum monocoque frame doesn't flex at all. The wheels are mavic 517 rims which have been the best XC wheel rims around ...

Marine Frames as hard as Rock
Review of Marin Quake Frame by
peanutccn
Advantages: Strong, light, looks nice
Disadvantages: Chain stays can cause chain suck and problems with quick release pins
For those of you out looking for a new frame, i'd recommend purchasing a Marine Quake frame. I bought a marine Quake 9 a few months back and its certianly given me value for money, and is one of the most sturdy bikes i've had. The Marine Quake frame comes in three colour scheme those being a combination of grey yellow red and blue. The Quake 9 model has a yellow and grey paint job and looks rather plush. The frame comes in a range of sizes, but being ... ...own model is a 13" frame). The tubing is triangular in shape, which from your science lessons will tell you adds to strength. Where the top and down tubes meet, extra triangular plates have been welded on to give the bike some strength (especially for those of you thinking of running tripple crown forks). The chain stays are extremely chunky as well. This can actually lead to some problems. Some quick release pins are very difficult to do up (i've ...

TOP JOB!
Review of Marin B-17 by
PrinceCharles
Advantages: Great bike, unbeatable value and an exellant warranty.
Disadvantages: Fork needs to be upgraded.
Marin has once again succeeded in producing a top quality full suspension bike! This bike just keeps getting better, this year it is an unbelievable £900, and has a cheap hope upgrade option. Even though the nature of the bike is downhill, it has the ability to be ridden uphill thanks to the active traction control. When you pedal hard the bike does not bob at all, it is very smooth and has a plush 6.5" travel. The only thing which you can grumble ...

comfortable offroader
Review of Marin Shoreline Trail by
beavis182
Advantages: excellent rear suspenion for light offroading
Disadvantages: poor build quality
...for the 24 gears and Marin lightness is also good for the hills but the rear suspensions will need to be adjusted to a harder setting for that hill climb tho else you will be knackered half way. I have been told that Marin's have bad build quality but i owned my shoreline for years and hand no problems there and i was rode most weekends across our local common. I did find though after my time of having this bike i did find the rear suspension a pain ...

Fantastic all rounder
Review of Marin Rocky Ridge by
dyls
Advantages: Looks, Weight, Robustness,Price, Brakes
Disadvantages: Not a commuter in standard form
Marin themselves are known world wide for making fantastic mountain bikes and the rocky ridge is no exception.
I have had mine for over a year and have travelled through France both off and on road with the only problem being one puncher.
The frame is one of the strongest I have felt giving you total confidence when navigating difficult obstacles leaving it down to your own abilities not the bikes.
The Julie disk brakes front and rear which take ...
