A Brick in more ways than one!
Review of Trek 3700 by alexwhite.sm

Advantages: Great on the road, powerful brakes, strong frame.
Disadvantages: Not ideal off road

...day when i purchased my trek 3700 from my bike shop. I remember instantly noticing that it was way better than my old bike, a concept something which was frankly terrible! I ride my bike about 20 miles every weekend, and has now well exceeded the 100 mile mark. It has got to here with basically no faults atall! It got its first service last weekend, which was pretty impressive i thought as it had never needed it before (due to water getting into ...
...needed replacing-this is due to spraying with a power hose). The brakes are very effective, apart from as the other review mentions they do have a habit of loosening-if you go on any long cycle rides it is well worth having an allan key on you just in case. Also if you enjoy riding on muddy trails do not use this bike! Its wheels get clogged up incredibly easily, thanks to the V brakes. The suspension is fantastically tuned for road-going as it ... Top bike for a top price
Review of Trek 6000 MTB by drew_greenday666

Advantages: Very light
Disadvantages: Not many around

...caught my eye was the Trek 6000, I knew that it was a year old model but that wouldn't bother me. The first thing I done to the bike was pick it up and I was amazed with how light it was. Then I checked out the spec, the rear derailleur is a Shimano Deore LX and was adequate for what I wanted. With the bike being a hard tail it only had front sus, it was an "In Sync 453", and it has four inches and is adjustable. The rims are "Vuelta double rimed". ...
...Well its six months down the line and I have no regret's with buying the 6000. Adding the Magura's was even better. With adding the brakes it brought the price up to £650. Nice I think! I thoroughly recommend any Trek but in particular the 6000 or higher. ... Read review

Trek 4300
Review of Trek 4300 by KitsuneAndy

Advantages: Lightweight, Durable, Value for Money
Disadvantages: No lock out on the forks, no disc brakes, poor quality chainset

...After coming across the Trek 4300 my mind was quickly made up, lovely lightweight frame that wouldn't be out of place on bikes twice the price. A reasonable set of Shimano Alvio shifters and forks with adjustable pre-load. Perfect for what I wanted, something I could commute to work on but also give a good thrashing around the local MTB routes. The bike is versatile, the adjustable pre-load works well and although the forks aren't fantastic, they'll ...
...off 6 foot drop offs. The only things really letting this bike down are the Suntour SR cranks. Mine were poorly fitted and the pedals had been cross threaded which meant that when I went to fit some SPD pedals it stripped the threads rendering the cranks useless. Que an upgade to a Shimano Deore chainset and the bike is now even better than it was. One thing to note is that if you're planning on getting into mountain biking, I would seriously consider ... TREK 4500 review
Review of Trek 4500 by ADVENTUSER

Advantages: Relativly light,great frame,strong wheels
Disadvantages: Judy TT front fork is a joke.

...direct replacement for my trusty Trek 4300,which,due to upgrading to disks, proved too much of a temptation, and was stolen just before Christmas. My 4500 has subsequently recieved little use,but I can say that the front fork is almost immpossible to depress, unless your a desperate dan lookalike. It is a likely candidate for upgrade ASAP. Otherwise, however the components are well put together and the frame is light and very strong.Thank goodness they ...
...the rear. I have already ordered disks to effect a brake upgrade, although strictly speeaking, the Avid single digit V brakes are more than adequate The Deore shifters are very light, and make gear changes a pleasure.I'll also need to change the tyres as they are for off road stuff, and at present,it's the daily commute to work, resulting in excessive tyre noise. ... Trek 8000 bike, move over Mr Porsche
Review of Trek 8000 by skrg28

Advantages: Top Quality, first class frame
Disadvantages: a few cheap components

...years ago I bought a Trek 8000 mountain bike. I bought this in a sale for £1100 pounds. I did my home work and came up with the 8000 as a good all round cross country bike that would give me all I needed for a lot less than I used to pay. FRAME. My bike has to be big as I am 6'3". So I opted for the largest I could get. They come in various sizes in inches which your local supplier can advise you on, which roughly equate to Small, Medium Large ...
...of ZR9000 aluminium. Well the trek 8000 is made of the same stuff, making the frame super light yet very strong. As it is aluminium you get far more stiffness in the frameset over the standard flexible steel. The 8000 dimensions are pretty good for a bike to use either as a normal about town machine or for serious off road havoc. There is a little extra length in the frames top tube to allow you that extra distance from the bars on a downhill section. ... Read review
