...I have been wearing Mountain Horse boots for years now including the ever popular 'Cheetah' boot.
I have always ridden in a pair of long leather boots and normally the zips have either gone on them or the stitching which is quite frankly damn annoying!
When I bought another horse about 2 years ago I decided to treat myself to a new pair of long leather boots but something which is a bit more durable and hardwearing. I dont know why I never thought of Mountain Horse before! It might be because alot of their boots are quite chunky.
Anyway Mountain Horse hadnt had the Sportive High Rider out for long and I had a look and went into my local saddlers to try them to see what they were like, I was smitten. They were so comortable and fitted really well, I have slim legs and normally I get a gap at the back of the boot but not with these...

Advantages: Warm, light, packs down well Disadvantages: None really
...Let start with the basics, I bought this virtually blind, seeing what looked good on web sites. and i bought a peach. It does exactly what it says on the tin (or bag). It is very light indeed packs down to the size of a rugby ball, It keeps me perfectly warm to just above freezing and i have bought a fleece liner which take me down to about 0. people without as much meant on their bnes as me might find they get colder a little earlier.
I have droped this in a river and within 6 hours of it being hung off my ruksac and hiking around it was perfectly dry, a 15-20 degree heat in a pleasent April day.
I have a slight rip in the interior, not sure how it occured, but easily stiched up, probably not the fault of the quality of the bag. the lining does not move around . You will need a good quality roll mat as it is very thin...

Advantages: Smart Leather competition boot Disadvantages: They break in easily!
...As a keen horsewoman, last season required some new equine equipment, including new boots for me!
The Mountain Horse Sportive High Rider looked perfect, they were made of supple leather, with a panel of stretch re-inforces material to expand and hug the calf. I used to have problems in finding the width of boots to fit due to my calf muscles. When I do lots of exercise like walking and mountaineering, they grow! I needed a boot which could cope with this!
I did some research, and found they were reasonably affordable and more importantly from a brand that I'd already used and trusted for quality.
They retail between £127-£140 per pair, which I think is very reasonable, especially because the leather quality is very good.
They are zipped boots, doing up at the back, with a tab of velcro at the top to finish the top of the zip...
