I recently purchased one of these ingenious little toysto see what all the fuss was about, Id heard so much about them and how addictive they were but never actually tried one.
Basically for any one that has never heard of Power ball it is a round ball like toy about the size of a tennis ball which has a gyro inside it which once set spinning exerts a light resistance against the motion of your wrist, it is quite a bizzare feeling when first experienced its like a little ball of energy constantly trying to break loose of your grip it really is rather odd.
Some of the balls have a digital counter on top as can be seen in the picture above this can be used to calculate the Revs per minute or RPM it can also be set to total accumulated revolution, Real time Rpm, Highest Rpm and physical strength index.
These functions is were the product really comes into is own making it a real great laugh to compete with mates for the highest score and physical strength my personal best rpm is 11540 believe it or not this is very hard to get there are even world champion ships for this the current champion having reached over 15000 which believe me is impossible its like trying to hold an exploding grenade in your hand haha.
The idea of the power ball is to exercise all kinds of muscles including the wrist, fingers, hand, forearm, biceps and triceps. Now don't use this thinking that your going to become Arnold Schwarzenegger because you wont but it does tire you out after a while believe me. Although it can be used for light toning of muscles if used at high rpm for long periods and is great for increasing grip strength for guitarists and sports players like tennis and racket sports, its even being used for people in physio therapy to rebuild muscles ,however i mainly use it for fun with mates and developing finger strength and grip for guitar which works great.
All in all this is a brilliant little toy for all kinds of people and is brilliant to give as a present to your mates and will give endless fun at the office or in the pub and can be brought of ebay for about £8 not a lot for the hours of fun you'll get with it.
Now don't be confused by the amount of different types but i do suggest you get one with the digital counter or it kind of takes away the fun of competing however all the neon ones are just the same as the one above only with lights it doesn't change any of the functions or any thing so i suggest just buying the cheapest model with a counter on it .
One last thing if you have a counter you can register your high score on the power ball website to challenge the champion and be placed on the leader board great fun. so go on go and treat yourself you've even got the excuse of the fact that it is a kind of exercise to take away the guilt so enjoy.
