When thinking about buying a BCD earlier this year, I wandered into the local dive shop for a look around. I've dived with the people from the shop, and knew I could trust them not to rip me off by selling me something I didn't need.
During the conversation I mentioned I was going on holiday in a couple of weeks. George the owner said if I wanted to take one to try out on the holiday I could. I selected the Oceanic Nautic 1000, which is a pretty basic jacket. 4 D-rings, so if you like hanging loads of kit off your jacket, this isn't for you.
When packing, the jacket fitted nicely into the luggage and didn't add a lot of weight to it, so I would recommend it for this alone.
Once in Cyprus, a trip to the dive centre to arrange some dives and into the water we went. After a play around in the shallows to get used to the jacket, I found it very easy to use.
There are more expensive jackets with LOTS more D-rings, but at the moment, I don't have a need for lots of clips, and when diving abroad, it's ideal.
So all in all it's a reasonably priced basic jacket that won't break the bank, and will do the job it was made for.
