General Information ---------------------------
At first when I saw this shirt in one of the European games I thought that it was quite nice, I thought it was a mix of light grey and black and that i might even be tempted to buy it. Then I saw it in the shops and realised that my television picture/colour was giving me totally the wrong impression! It was in fact green. To use the official term, "cypress green". Since when I ask has cypress green been associated with Newcastle United Football Club? (Although to be fair I wouldn't have associated Cranberry with Arsenal till this season).
The Shirt Itself --------------------
The shirt has the same quirky styling of the other shirts of this season, with strange non-collar and odd seaming. I have yet to see how the numbers perform under wear as nobody seems to wear this shirt, perhaps because it is putrid!
Fortunately for the club they have a tendency to release new horrible shirts when someone new signs for us so everybody goes out and buys a shirt to put their name on to go with the Shearer 9 home shirt. This probably accounted for the majority of the sales.
The feel is the same as the other shirts this season with close stitching of the main section and climalite mesh for the sides to allow sweat to evaporate. So could be used as training shirt if you play.
The sponsor's logo is white and is like the home shirt, flat and plasticky, these logos are more prone to peeling than others in my experience. The numbers are also white if you choose to get one put on the back of your shirt.
This shirt isn't as tacky looking as the home shirt with the sponsors logo and numbering looking smarter and crisper as on the third (blue) shirt.
There are some big blokes at the games so expect to be able to get sizes from babies, children's, small adults to very large adults!
It is down to personal taste of course and if green is your colour and you want to stand out from the sea of black and white then buy this shirt. I would also imagine that there will be some good deals to be had as this shirt certainly isn't the most popular shirt we've released of late.
As with the home shirt, make sure you check it out 'in the flesh' or you might get a bit of a shock!
