INTRODUCTION After bladed boots were banned in my school, I needed a new pair of football boots. As I am saving up for a Playstation 3, I really didn't really want to spend too much, so instead of looking through high-profile football equipment magazines, I looked through other sports magazines to see if there were any decent pairs of football boots.
And to my amazement, I managed to find a pair that were actually decent. They were the Nike Air Zoom Total 90 III. They had been reduced from £120 down to £49.99. I couldn't believe my luck! I also had three different colour schemes to choose from! The colour scheme I wanted didn't have a size 12 available, so I went for my second favourite colour option, and they did have a size 12!
When I found out that they had been reduced from £120, I realised that they must be something special, and the only reason they had been reduced was because the 'newer model' had just been released. After doing a bit of research, I found out that players such as Wayne Rooney and Louis Figo had worn this model of boots! After finding this out, I couldn't wait for my boots to arrive, and when they did, my first time wearing them was to become a memorable one!!!
MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF THE BOOTS My cousins had come round, and they both like football, and since I live fairly near to a football field, we decided we would go and have a kick about, the perfect opportunity to test my new boots.
I was kicking the ball around, and I really liked the boots. I was getting good power and accuracy with all my shots and passes, so far my boots were on to a winner.
After a while some other kids arrived at the field so we asked them for a match and they agreed, teams were arranged, and both teams retreated to their half of the field to arrange positions.
As I am a goalkeeper, I volunteered to go in nets, and I was accepted. After a while of not doing anything except making a few catches from crosses and a few easy diving saves, I was getting a bit bored, so I let my cousin, (who is also a keen goalkeeper) have a go in nets.
I don't score many goals when playing football, so I can only assume that the boots have really helped me, because on this occasion, I managed to grab three!
My first goal wasn't that special. The ball landed at my feet, and it was a fairly simple side footed shot into the corner. My second goal was much better. I was on the edge of the box, one of our players had a shot, and it got blocked by an opposition player's backside, and the ball came towards me. I controlled it with the inside of my boot, so that the ball came to rest on the grass. I then hit the ball with the outside of my boot. To my surprise the ball curved into the far corner. Imagine Thierry Henry's goal for Arsenal against Sparta Prague that broke Ian Wright's record and you will have a better idea of what the goal looked like, (well, with a bit less curl and style, but you get the idea). Then came my third goal. I was just outside our penalty box, and my cousin (in goal) threw the ball to me. By now, I think all the opposition players were getting tired of being beaten, so I think their tactics had changed to 'tackle to kill.' I started running with the ball, and the tackles started flying, (well sliding) in. I somehow managed to make it to the opposition's penalty box, (by now I was well and truly knackered), and the keeper began to run out. I tried to get the ball around him, and the ball bounced off his knee and back into my path, I had gone round the keeper and I shot into the empty net. Then I collapsed in a heap because I was so tired. I think we won the match about 11-3, so at least I did my bit for the team!
It wasn't until I got back home till I realised what I had achieved. Dribbled the full length of the pitch and scored. This was something I had never achieved before, (and I don't think I had ever tried it before, amazing how much confidence you can get from a new pair of boots)! I had managed to keep the ball pretty much stuck to my boots while dribbling, I had never been good at this, so I can only assume that it was the boots that assisted me with this. I really do think that the boots helped me play well during the match, or at least gave me the confidence to play well!!
LOOKS I think that the boots like pretty good. They have a very interesting design, and the colour schemes work very well. The Nike tick on the side of the boots stands out very well, as does the 90 on the side and near the back of the boots. The boots look like they are made of two materials, the upper looks like it is made from a shiny material, while the side area where the 90 is looks like it's made of a more dull material. I think that these two material changes make the boots look quite cool.
There is also another Nike tick on the heel, and also on the very front of the boot. Zoom Air is also wrote near the very back of the boot.
Overall, I think that they are a pretty good-looking pair of boots that stand out quite well.
UPPER The upper part of the boots is made from KNG-100. Please don't ask me what this is, but I'm guessing it is some form of leather. The upper is very soft and lightweight, so this means that you can get a good touch of the ball. I did a bit of research and found out that the material is more durable than normal leather and it does not lose its shape or retain water.
SIDE LACING SYSTEM Side lacing system means that instead of the laces been in the middle of your foot, they are off centre to one side. This means that you will get a cleaner ball striking surface because there will be no laces to get in the way of your boot and the ball connecting well with each other. There is also no tongue on the boot which creates more comfort, and with there being no tongue and having side lacing system, sensitive veins don't have pressure being put on them from the boot, which is the case with a lot of boots.
HEEL COUNTER The heel counter is designed to protect your heel against other players' boots. The counter is shaped the same as a human heel. So this give low profile stability, and it also gives you good comfort in your boots.
ZOOM AIR UNIT The zoom air unit is mounted into the midsole under the heel, and this provides cushioning and comfort. The zoom air unit is simply a pocket of air inside the boot. It acts somewhat like a spring, (or suspension on a car) for your feet.
STRUCTURAL BARS There are two spinal structural bars that run along the bottom of the boots. These bars provide support, torsional stability and motion control at all points along the foot. The two bars also provide flexibility where it is needed.
MIDSOLE The midsole is made from Phylon. This is a compressed foam material, and this provides superb comfort, shock absorption and outstanding foot to ground comfort!
COMFORT If you haven't grasped it yet, you should at least have guessed from reading the review that these boots are incredibly comfortable to wear. They provide cushioning for your feet as well as having a comfortable area on the boot where you kick the ball. Nike have thought of everything that they could put in the boot that would make it more comfortable, and they have created one of the most comfortable pairs of boots ever released!
BEST PART OF THE BOOTS The best part of the boots would have to be the great comfort. You can be confident that you will be comfortable while wearing these boots, because Nike have put so much work into them, so I think it has to be the best part of them!
OTHER COLOUR OPTIONS There are many colour options for the boots. I got the gold and white boots, but there are many others, here is a list of the colour schemes available for the boots:

PRICE All the different colour schemes started off at £119.99, but now they have all been reduced, since a newer version is out, so now they retail for between £49.99 and £59.99.
OVERALL Overall they are a great pair of boots. They offer the player comfort, power and stability. Some professional players still wear these boots, and with good reason. Even though a newer version is out, these boots can still rival them in a lot of ways, and now they have been reduced in price, they are definitely worth your thought if you are thinking of getting a new pair of football boots!
