Advantages: Very very long Disadvantages: expensive to lose
awat from the hole, infact on one hole i was around 25 feet away and missed the putt by inches.
i can not really comment on the spin factor because i very rarely get back spin but for the low handicappers i would imagine they could use these with ease.
The ball has a lot of durability and is still nice and shiny, the only down side is that a dozen cost around £30 that over £2 per ball.
if you are struggling dfor distance give one a go, but if you tend to lose balls why waste your money stay with what you have.
I would have to say though that the Nike One black is well worth the money if you want more distance and more control, Personally i do think they are better than most golfballs on the market and i have to say they seem better than my usual Titleist PTS solo, but i cannot afford to buy the Nike so i will have to use PTS ...
Advantages: Solid with god feel Disadvantages: No better than Pro V 1's
I used the balls for the first time several weeks ago and they were ok. They are no better than Pro V1s or Srixon ZURS however there is deffinatly no noticable difference that thay are clearly worse. The have generally good feel around the greens and are very nice to put with. They are solid golfball with and of a nice weight, and when struck well they feellike they bomb off the tee. If they were about £5 a doz cheaper than ProV's then i owuld probably use them all the time. So if you like balls that feel solid with a good feel then these balls will suit you. However with them being a similar price to Pro V 1's I see no clear advantage that they have over them, so I will stick with the Pro V's. ...
Advantages: Cheap to purchase. Virtually indestructable. Travels a long way. Disadvantages: Hard to control, with little or no spin control.
in wintertime, and because it spins less in the air, will tend to fly that little bit straighter in a high wind.
So I have gradually used up the dozen Srixon golfballs I got a Christmas time, although now that Springtime is (almost) upon us, the remainder will now be banished to the bottom of my golf bag until next winter, and I will return to using a softer and more controllable ball.
~ ~ Cost is in or around the £12 mark for a box of a dozen, (£1 per ball) and the Srixon Distance is widely available in most good Sports shops, golf professionals, or on the Web from a plethora of different sites.
To sum up then. The Srixon Distanceball is a good buy for a long handicap or junior golfer, who puts distance at a premium, but is not really a good buy for the more gifted or lower handicap player.
