One feature which hasnt always being on shin pads are ankle support. These are simply thick cotton and nylon made into a bandage type material which straps along your foot and protrudes from the main shin pad. The ankle support on these shin pads is excellent. Please use it. It also helps to keep the shin pads in place. No velcro on these either. Simply wrap then around the ... ...primary shin protection is initially made from hardened PVC and is then coated with plastic mainly for looks however it does add additional protection. The reason why PVC has been used is due to the fact that PVC is extremely light weight so it shouldnt affect your genral speed and agility when either in a game or training.
