Northern Diver Fins

Advantages: Best fins i have ever used
Disadvantages: Very plain looking, everyone has them

...People in the diving world will know about the Oceanic split fin craze, for divers that have use the V12 fins they will know how good they are and all the other divers that haven't used them want too lol. The thing that makes these fins so good is the split in them; non divers might think how can you move yourself along underwater if you have a big split in your fins. Well the answer is better than you can if you don't have a split in your fins. Advantages: Impressive speed, flexible, good performers

...INTRODUCTION I used to have some Mares Plana Avanti Quattros (yes, that is what they're marketed as) which were very impressive but flawed in the comfort department. They gave me terrible calf cramp. After asking around and settling on a Jetfin design, I tried on some of these grey fins in a very eminent technical dive shop near Egham, Surrey. The salesman, whom I trust, said that the fins were among the best he'd tried and urged me to have a go with them. They have a design that mimics a whale's fin, he said. Advantages: Adjustable lenses for short-sight, peripheral vision panels
Disadvantages: Overpriced, cheaper alternatives available, awkward to adjust

...that they have included special swivel buckles to make adjustment easier, but I found these to be a bit fiddly, especially when trying to adjust them in the water. Where the mask did excel over other masks is its performance once you're under the water. Those extra panels on the bottom and sides really did come in handy for providing extra all round vision and as I have scraped up against coral in the past the side windows in particular were great. They were also useful for avoiding other divers and as someone who has had other divers' fins brush his face in the past, I found this to be very handy indeed. However, I think it fair to point out that most divers should not need this extra all round vision and there is some truth in saying that using a standard facemask may make you a more careful diver, as you are forced to think about your position...
