One year without realising what I was letting myself into, I promised my husband a new pair of walking boots for his birthday. I was expecting to pay £60-£70 but bless him, he fell in love with a pair of Brasher Supalites and I didn't have the heart to say no. With a 10% discount they cost me £108 and he assured me they were worth every penny.

At this stage I'd been fighting the need to buy proper boots. As a student I studied geology and spent a lot of wet miserable weeks plodding over mountains with wet feet. In my book, proper boots weighed a tonne and took a lot of looking after. We used to do the most bizarre things to make them fit and to soften the leather - sitting with your boots on in bowls of hot water, putting lots of Nikwax onto the wet boots so the nasty stuff got sucked into the pores ...

Fahrenheit is set in the city of New York. The main character (Lucas Kane) walks into a cafe, uses the bathroom and kills a man who enters. He has no idea why he killed him and he is not alone. People are killing without knowing why they are doing so and Lucas is determined to find out what happened to him. Your first problem is how to escape the cafe without being caught by the police.
Every decision you make throughout the game affects the storyline and it is incredibly enjoyable to play a game which is so reactive to your decisions. The storyline branches in all kinds of directions. Not only that but Lucas Kane is not the only character you will control. You play as Lucas Kane, Carla Valenti and Tyler Miles. Unlike most games you will form an attachment to the characters, it's virtually impossible not to.

Fahrenheit was the first after-shave that I remember my husband wearing when I met him so it has powerful memories, as aromas have. He told me that it was recommended to him by a girl behind the perfume counter as being her favourite which niggled me somewhat at the time!! However, twelve years on I still find its distinctive grab on my nostrils brings a smile to my face.
I wanted to buy him some for his fortieth birthday so made my way into town to shop around. The consultant in Boots quoted me £26 for a 50ml bottle of after-shave lotion so doing an immediate right turn I made my way to 'The Perfume Shop' in our new mall where I was sure I could get a better deal, and did. They had a special offer of a gift set comprising the same 50ml bottle alongside a 50ml tube of body/hair bath gel, tastefully presented in a robust silver box ...
