Im 20 years old and live in Wales, UK. I work in a pet supply shop and have recently achieved a HND in Animal Science. I own 2 dogs, lots of fish and a horse who I compete in shows regularly.

I decided to buy a pair of the new style Old macs G2 boots for my horse as he was finding it difficult having shoes on his hind feet due to arthritis (He's 31). The old style boots werent the right shape for his feet so I forked out £101 on the G2 boots direct from Easy Care Inc. in Arizona as no one in the UK did them. The weigh just over 1lb each which is great for Pegasus' arthritis and great for me carting them around! They are easy to slip on and I dont need to lift his feet too high to be able to put them on, i can do it with his foot inches from the floor. They last roughly 8 shoeings (Aprox £480 for 8 full sets) so money wise they are great value. Obviously if you dont use them often they last much longer, but you do need to keep their hooves trimmed and file them down if there are any rough edges which could damage the boot. These boots can be worn over shoes if used for breeding or traveling but they are meant to be used instead of metal shoes. They are much cheaper if ordering from the US than over here and there are is a wider choice available if your prepared to look in the US and Australia. These boots have alowed me to keep riding Pegasus and his arthritis has improved so much as the boots absorb the shock when used on the roads. I would advise anyone and everyone to get these especially if their horse has feet or joint problems. Just dont opt for the cheaper fake Old Macs as theyre not as good, dont last as long or fit as well. You do get better quality when you get the real thing!

As you say they are much better than the old style boots, I have only used one at a time when my horse has lost a shoe. Fantastic to still be able to ride your horse at 31.
