...I have just been down to have a look at the local LA Fitness. This month they are offering a £75 off the joining fee, which mean you'll have to only pay about 15 quid. This is quite good. The monthly membership fees are then £45 per adult - which is only good if you're actually going to use the facilities more than once a week. Otherwise there really is no point in joining a place like this.
The LA Fitness in Purley had a nice and friendly atmosphere - the staff there were smiling and helpful, and willing to answer any questions you may have. As for the facilites - the same as any other gym, except here I had the slight feeling of claustrophobia. ...Curves
This time last year I was fired with enthusiasm to do something which would get me fit and not take up too much of my time.
Recommended by a couple of people I know, and just opened very close to me, I joined Curves for Women.
**The History**
This was founded about 27 years ago by Gary Heavin, who had dropped out of medical school, and then began to provide fitness services which would prevent illnesses.
The first Curves was opened in Texas in 1992 and the first franchise opened in 1995.
In 10 years, Curves reached 9000 locations and has entered the Guinness Book of Records as "the world's largest fitness center franchise"
**What's it all about?**
It's all about fitting exercise into your busy schedule, with a cardio and strength training programme which takes only 30 minutes, 3 times a week.
**The hype...
