Keep dry, whatever the weather
Review of Berghaus Men's Cornice Waterproof Jacket by HuwBach

Advantages: Lightweight, waterproof, looks great
Disadvantages: Not Cheap

...waterproof coat manufactured by the Berghaus company. Berghaus have a background in manufacturing clothes and equipment for walkers, hikers and campers, which is why this particular coat is grouped under "sporting goods". The Cornice is man's design - the equivalent woman's style is branded as a Glissade. The jacket is made from a Gore-Tex material. This is clever material that is manufactured under licence from WL Gore Ltd. The material is a high-tech ...
...the name stands for Interactive. Berghaus coats with this designation have a second zip included - this is designed to allow the user to attach a Berghaus IA fleece to the inside to produce a much warmer product for colder weather. I'm not that active myself, and so tend to just wear the fleece loose. The jacket will fit over a suit and so I can use it for work. I didn't buy this for use specifically on the hills and mountains, but for general use ... Read review

Result Performance Classic Soft Shell Jacket
Review of Result Performance Classic Soft Shell Jacket by san2kworld

Advantages: its very comfort for all seasons
Disadvantages: not so strainable

Everything that's claimed is true.. I've been out in tropical style cloudbursts wearing my Barbour and hood. Everything below the jacket hem was soaked ie the lower calves of my legs and feet. But my Barbour did it's duty and kept the rest of me bone dry! It is also remarkably wind proof. Combined with a vest, shirt and jumper and a decent Tinsulate lined wooly hat, I've braved nasty cold east winds this winter and stayed warm.I've also been through ...

A Special Jacket!!
Review of Tog 24 Carolina III Ladies Milatex Jacket by DeniseKelly40

Advantages: very versatile
Disadvantages: None really

CAROLINA III LADIES MILATEX TM JACKET This is a sports jacket, which is very much an outdoor coat. It is lightweight, waterproof and is easy to make compact to stowaway. The secret of this jacket and what makes it different is its design and it is made out of Milatex. It is ideal for days out, holidays, when travelling or just everyday use. Really anytime you want to bring a coat and want to store it and don't have much space as it packs up small. ...
...better in my opinion than others. It is waterproof and will keep you dry from the rain. It comes down over your bum, which is great, as it keeps it dry. I find this important as it means you are not sitting on wet clothes all day as some coats don't cover this region very well and you still get wet. No wet gets inside your coat whatsoever and it also lets perspiration escape to the outside to leave you feeling even drier. An additional bonus is if ... Read review

Keeping dry
Review of Emergency Raingear Weather Station Rain Poncho by danielalong

Advantages: Keeps you dry on rides
Disadvantages: Quite thin

...as the tube describes, as emergency rainwear- never get caught out in the rain again. I somehow can't see me wearing this or carrying it around with me "just in case" but at the time I needed it, it was excellent. The Viking ride was indeed a very wet one but I managed to come out of it relatively unscathed. Also, by putting my bag on my knee, under the poncho, things like my camera and phone were not damaged. One down side is the fact that because ...
...fact, two days of me dragging it in and out of my bag has rendered it almost useless. However, it was £2 well spent, and for anyone faced with desperate times, I would advise one of these. This factor was made clear when I noticed that the drying machines cost £2 a time, so these are indeed excellent value, but not something I would recommend for daily wear. Thanks for reading. Map? Check. Compass? Check. Barking feet? No!!
Review of Bridgedale Women's Trek Sock by Curveygirl

Advantages: Extremely comfortable and hard wearing
Disadvantages: Take a while to dry when just hanging off the tent

...first time I ever saw Bridgedale hiking socks, I couldn't believe the price. It must be the same for many of the uninitiated, as that would explain how it is so easy to waste a smaller amount on something of far less quality. In the case of looking after your feet out on the hill, you definately get what you pay for, and this is the case with the slightly pricey Bridgedale socks. They are sized so that you can select something that won't wrinkle ...
...room. Personally, as a pixie footed person, used to buying 'one size fits all' which blatently doesn't, the fact that socks can actually fit, and that this adds to comfort, was a revelation to me. They are the sort of socks which really do feel great when you put them on. Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not saying you won't get blisters if you are spending all day on Scafell Pike, but the chances are much more likely if you wear rubbish socks. I just ... Read review
