Keeping dry
Review of Weather Station Rain Poncho by
danielalong
Advantages: Keeps you dry on rides
Disadvantages: Quite thin
Rain Poncho On a recent visit to Legoland, Windsor, I was surprised at how many rides there were which involved getting wet. Having watched people coming off one of the Viking rides, and noticing how wet they were, I decided that this poncho was a must! WHAT ARE THEY?
When contemplating the wet rides, being the caped crusader is probably the very best option. The cape comes in a rather nifty cylinder with the name of the poncho clearly written and ... ...really quite self explanatory- wear it and avoid the very worst of the wet. Once the cylinder is opened, there is a thin plastic bag; open this and the poncho is inside.
It is basically a very lightweight poncho with a hood and two short sleeves. It would be better if they were really long but wetness of the arms can be avoided by pulling the arms into the body part. Once the hood is on, it's just a case of pulling the thing down over yourself. ...

Map? Check. Compass? Check. Barking feet? No!!
Review of Bridgedale Women's Trek Sock by
Curveygirl
Advantages: Extremely comfortable and hard wearing
Disadvantages: Take a while to dry when just hanging off the tent
...first time I ever saw Bridgedale hiking socks, I couldn't believe the price. It must be the same for many of the uninitiated, as that would explain how it is so easy to waste a smaller amount on something of far less quality. In the case of looking after your feet out on the hill, you definately get what you pay for, and this is the case with the slightly pricey Bridgedale socks.
They are sized so that you can select something that won't wrinkle ... ...room. Personally, as a pixie footed person, used to buying 'one size fits all' which blatently doesn't, the fact that socks can actually fit, and that this adds to comfort, was a revelation to me. They are the sort of socks which really do feel great when you put them on. Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not saying you won't get blisters if you are spending all day on Scafell Pike, but the chances are much more likely if you wear rubbish socks. I just ...

5.11 t-shirt - Hot stuff, but not too cool.
Review of 5.11 Loose Fit Crew T-Shirt by
smssms
Advantages: Keeps you warm, dries quickly .
Disadvantages: Uncomforable seams, can be too warm .
The Tactical Series undergear from 5.11 is designed to be worn under body armour, to keep the wearer cool, dry and comfortable. I purchased a top to use as a base layer when wearing a rucksack. Most of the 5.11 Tactical Series undergear comes in what they call 'muscle mapping' style i.e. tight. As I don't really want a t-shirt 'mapping' my beer-belly, I went for the crew loose fit version, to leave a bit more to the imagination.
# 5.11 claim these ... ...taking a coat.
# 5.11 claim the flat-lock seams are very comfortable next to the skin - I have not found this to be the case; the seams around the neck and top of the shoulder get extremely itchy as I get warmer. I tend to wear the top inside out; as is it a base layer and has no sewn labels (they are printed) on it, this is not a big problem.
# 5.11 claim the fabric is wicking and quick drying - I don't know how good the wicking is, if I am sweating, ...

Secret Weapon against mud and wet
Review of SealSkinz Socks by
jolmartyn
Advantages: Stupendously Good!
Disadvantages: Could be considered ludicrously expensive!
...or running shoe. However the SealSkinz sock has got a whole lot more going for it .
There is little doubt that in the world of the serious runner the feet takes the brunt of all our efforts. In mountain and fell running this is multiplied by twisting, bogs, wet, stones and boulders and dust.. In short a lot more pressure is pushed on the feet. than in road running. In summer feet can stay dry and largely clean, they also stay quite cool. Many runners ... ...happens to me thankfully!
Sealskinz claim to prevent a lot of these difficulties by making their socks waterproof and breathable, seems like a contradiction. The innermost layer is Merino wool. This is very soft to the touch, quite springy. It is finer than "traditional" wool and exhibits antibacterial properties. It however has a high lanolin content which is a warning for those with lanolin allegies.
The middle layer comprises of a membrane made ...

excellent rubber boots
Review of Dunlop Dull Wellies by
madrigalista
Advantages: Very comfortable, resistant, 100% waterproof
Disadvantages: you sweat a bit on warm days
This wellies are essential on all kids equipments.
My son require to wear them always in rainy days to play in the garden, for puddle jumping and also to go to school, he consider them better than his trainers.
The boots are made of soft pvc, they are very comfortable, but also resistant, their sole assure that he don't slip on the mud, and with a good pair of wool socks he can put them also with snow.
They are 100% waterproof so I am sure that ...
