Everything that's claimed is true.. I've been out in tropical style cloudbursts wearing my Barbour and hood. Everything below the jacket hem was soaked ie the lower calves of my legs and feet. ...as the tube describes, as emergency rainwear- never get caught out in the rain again. I somehow can't see me wearing this or carrying it around with me "just in case" but at the time I needed it, it was excellent. The Viking ride was indeed a very wet one but I managed to come out of it relatively unscathed. Also, by putting my bag on my knee, under the poncho, things like my camera and phone were not damaged. ...fact, two days of me dragging it in and out of my bag has rendered it almost useless. However, it was £2 well spent, and for anyone faced with desperate times, I would advise one of these. ...beer-belly, I went for the crew loose fit version, to leave a bit more to the imagination. # 5.11 claim these will keep you cool when it is hot and warm when it is cold - I have found this t-shirt to keep me warm when it is cold and roasting hot when it is warm! In warm or hot weather, I just have to take it off as it is too hot, but in cool/cold weather, it is a brilliant warm base layer. I often just use this top with another loose normal t-shirt ...
...claim the flat-lock seams are very comfortable next to the skin - I have not found this to be the case; the seams around the neck and top of the shoulder get extremely itchy as I get warmer.
