New and improved for 2006 the Arizona L is slightly larger than its predecessor yet still remains thoughtfully laid out, easy to pitch and pack a must for those quick weekends (and weeks) away. Having external poles, the Arizona L can be pitched flysheet first or as one. The flysheet for 2006 is Outtex 3000 Polyester with 3000mm hydrostatic head of waterproofness and taped seams. The inner tent is breathable polyester and the floor is a double coated polyethylene. The Duratec fibreglass poles complete the list of the items for the main structure. So far as features are concerned the list is virtually endless: mud/draft valance (sounds like a Blues singer) for living/porch area; carry bag with wet gear compartment; large skylight windows; two entry doors; Oxford nylon pole sleeves; pre-attached inner tent; ring & pin system for easy set-up; detachable groundsheet for living/porch area; stowaway O-shaped doors; Outwell doormat; adjustable pegging points; internal storage pockets; luminous, pre-attached luminous guys; heavy duty Outwell zips; reflective patches.
Advantages: Large living area Disadvantages: Vents do not have no see um mesh
...We have used this tent about 3 times now and have been very impressed with it, both in pitching and it's size.
Pitching
It's pitched inner first and this has been very easy to do, it has colour coded poles so you cannot get them wrong, the only thing I don't like about this is if you had to do it whilst raining.
The flysheet is a bit more of a handful and at first it seems daunting, but after a coule of times, you get to know where it should lie and it's not too bad.
There are loads of guy lines and it is very stable once pitched, the first time we used it, there were very strong winds but it had no problems coping.
Living in it.
The living space is very good, a high roof and plenty of room, the bedrooms are fine, enough space for a double air bed and clothes bags at the end of the airbed.
The only gripe about the living area...

Advantages: Size, bug/draft free central room, covered poarch for entry & cooking Disadvantages: Heavy
...No small light thing this but a great family/group tent for those longer breaks.
Supprisingly easy to put up - much easier than the dome we'd used previously - being a straight tunnel just means starting at the back and lifting eacg section as you move forward.
Inside the bedrooms include storage pockets - essential for glasses etc when you go to bed - but if you are using air beds you will only fit three in the larger room and two in the smaller so probably should be looked at as a five birth tent. The central room has a sewn in ground sheet that reduces drafts and means that it can be warmed up nicely should the wether not be as warm as you'd hoped - when is it! The pale grey roof allows loads of light into this section even when the windows are covered. There are a number of storage pouches included and a wardrobe with hanging rail...

Advantages: Logical to put up, spacious to be in Disadvantages: Bit big for the odd weekend!
...Let's set the scene... me and the missus like going away during the summer. Long weekends camping are a favourite especially with an over energetic little lad and a slightly tapped in the head greyhound... which is easier to control is the subjected of an ever ongoing debate!! However, the tents we'd had were not really big enough, especially when we got the dog as well. A little 3 man dome with tunnel and a 5 man dome were just too small.
And as for the thought of buying a caravan... let's just say Jeremy Clarkson is someone I agree with!!!
So, off to the local camping shop for a look round. Actually, we often found ourselves in there just to pass a bit of time. With a gardening centre in the same place, plus the obligatory coffee shop, it was a nice little diversion. But I digress...
They had a huge display of tents from most names...
