My Tent with Rooms

Advantages: Breathable fabric keeps cool in the heat and warm when it is cooler
Disadvantages: It is quite weighty and quite expensive

I turned to camping rather late in life, only a year or so ago, with an escapade to the Isles of Scilly with my sister. While the trip and the islands themselves were fantastic, my cheap tent certainly was not. I had the bug though, and despite working in the hotel game, I found a real buzz from being able to book a week?s holiday for the princely sum of £6 to £8 a night. On return to the mainland, and armed with a £200 donation from my father in law, we set about searching for a tent. We quickly stumbled upon the Outwell Classic range of tents, as the local Yeomans camping store in my village has a vast display. I also have to admit I was somewhat seducted by the names of their tents, Bear Lake, Wolf Lake, Indian Lake, Norfolk Lake, Trout Lake ? all conjuring up images of camping in the Canadian wilderness with only a fishing rod ...

Review of Outwell Bear Lake Tunnel Tent

Winterhaven Hotel, Miami Beach

Advantages: Lovely little hotel
Disadvantages: Limited amenities, but what do youe expect for 2*...?

yellow walls are accented with black and white photos of classic Miami Beach Deco hotels. Wooden Venetian blinds add to the airy, tropical feeling. The pool's nothing on that at The National - but who needs one ? The ocean's just acress the street ! Also, there's no restaurant, although they do serve a "continental" style breakfast in the lobby - or even on the verandah. There are also a hundered excellent eateries just a few blocks down Ocean Drive, so we didn't find the lack of a restaurant a problem at all. There's also the AMAZING "Jerry's Famous Diner" just around the corner at 1450 Collins Avenue, everything you could ever want for breakfast, lunch and dinner ! As with most South Beach hotels, there's no car park, but a valet parking service is available with a $25 daily fee. Just a reminder that you'll need to give them ...

Advantages: Great hotel, great location
Disadvantages: Not that cheap...

Open daily from mid morning till late evening, this Art Deco-style cocktail lounge offers specialty drinks, a Friday happy hour, and scheduled live entertainment - Casual-chic dining and libations at "Zee Pool Lounge". Located poolside with daybeds, ottomans, and private cabana tents, this casual spot offers music, grill menu, and bar service for drinks, lunch, and dinner. Our tower room was not huge, but very well furnished and decorated, with a DVD player & VCR, satellite TV, minibar, bathrobes, slippers, and Aveda bath and skin-care products, and I believe this is standard in all rooms. There are two pools, including the 205-foot-long infinity pool, and it's from the pool area that you can access Miami's marvelous South Beach itself.
