...I had thought that it was next to impossible to find a coat that was provided warmth in the winter but could also be used as a raincoat at other times of the year without causing you to overheat. I also didn't think that I'd find an outdoor jacket that I could wear in the city without standing out. However, a combination of fleece insulation, zip vents and a sensible colour make this jacket suitable for a variety of situations . The price was also much lower than I expected. Firstly, there is plenty of pocket space: one inside pockets, two large sidepockets, and pocket on each sleeve. The sidepockets are even large enough to fit small books or maps. There is also fleece insulation on the inside that make the jacket ideal for winter use. It's just a shame that it's not detachable, but the vent zips in the armpit area help to avoid... Read review

...of socks and then a pair of thick walking socks over the top for comfort and warmth. **********Width/Size********** I am an E/F width, I have one foot sized 7 ½ and the other an 8, which is a pain, which is why I couldn't go up to the next size as the 7 ½ foot would have been too lose in a nine so I have a size 8 which is quite a good snug fit. The boot does however only go up to a size eight, but there is always men's?! The width is good for me too, however I keep the lower section of the boot loser when I tie my laces and the ankle support quite tight to secure my foot and prevent it slipping in my boot. **********Price********** Peter Storm is often a slightly cheaper make to other competitors like North Face, Regatta, Gore-Tex or Berghaus. Advantages: low on the tendon so comfy at the back of the foot
Disadvantages: midsole just not stiff enough for people of 13 stone

...I bought Scafell because I needed some lightweight waterproof walking boots and was bored with getting my feet soaked in soggy trainers. These might be waterproof, they certainly worked in some light rain for an hour but the soles just don't have the stiffness for anyone my weight 13.5st / 89Kg I feel every pebble, and its not nice. I normally walk on the North downs across fields and the paths are not that rough but I feel like my feet are being prodded and squished by every tiny item I stand on. To compare, my running trainers are much better at soaking up the bumps. Also the padding seems very thin around the toes making downhill walking prone to rubbing. If you are looking for lightweight shoes on very easy terrain and are say, half my weight you might consider them.... Read review
