The Polar M52 is one of the expensive heart rate monitor. In Germany you have to pay 299,- German Marks( 150 Dollar).

This price will frighten a lot people to buy this product. But this price also say's for whom this Polar M52 is good. For somebody who makes sports twice a month it will not repay.

For people who are training regularly, for example sportsman who are training for a marathon, like me, i can absolutely recommend this product.

I running a marathon twice a year, but every time it is very difficult to find the right speed. Every marathon athlete knows that a second you wins at the beginning can get minutes you loose at the finish.

Of course you can also check your speed with your clock every kilometer, but this is much more difficult.
Because with your heart rate monitor you only check your pulse and so you will be able to reach your own limits without running too fast.

So you can analyse your fitness with the heart rate monitor before the run and you can than decide witch is your minimum and witch is your maximum pulse. If during the race your pulse gets higher or lower you will hear a beep.

Marathon runners will know the problem that during a race you can see the pulse of a other runner on your watch, because he has the same heart rate monitor. This can not happen with the M52, because the signal from the belt is decoded.

Of course you can use it by every other activity. So the belt and the clock are waterproof and you can use it during your swimming training.

It's also recommend for people who wants to loose weight. You can watch how many calories you lost. This is quite precise, because the system knows your age, weight, length...

The battery holds two years. Than you have to buy a knew belt for 80 Marks ( 40 Dollar)

So, the Polar M52 is not cheap, but i made only positive experiences and can recommend it for all active people.
