Polypads now come in a huge range of sizes, styles and colour combinations making them an excellent choice of numnah or saddlecloth to go under a saddle. They are not only comftorable for the horse but apparently in some studies they disperse pressure very well, eliminating rubs and sores points for the horse. They aren't overly expensive either and i have had mine for well over 5 years and they still come up almost as good as new after a wash. There are however some downsides to them. The very thick ones can alter the fit of your saddle which is something people have to remember. If you have a saddle fitted by a saddler who thinks you are only going to be using a normal thin saddlecloth, a polypad can actually then make the saddle too narrow. My other problem with them is that whilst they work fantasticly on my TB, they dont work so well on my round cob mare, They have a tendancy to either dissapear out the back of the saddle or cause the saddle to slip, no matter how tight my girth is. They are still fantastic though and i wouldnt hesitate to buy another.

I'll be honest, I know nothing about horses whatsoever. You might as well give me a pot of glue than a horsey! However, this did have some interesting and probably relevant points in it. I think.
