I have only been living in Portsmouth for just over a year now after moving down here from Southend in Essex. I have always been a true Southend fan and used to attend matches regularly each weekend as well as traveling up and down the country to see many of their away matches everywhere from Bournemouth to Swansea. Yet since living in Portsmouth I have been following the team quite closely and have been interested in how they have been doing and in a way I am kind of supporting them. Of course I remain a real Southend fan and they are still my number 1 team, with Portsmouth being th premiership team I support. Which is quite useful as when people ask who I support and I say Southend they then ask who I support in the premiership and I can now say Portsmouth.
Well now onto the shirt. I recently decided I would like to buy a Portsmouth shirt as they are a good premiership team and have a nice looking shirt and one which I can easily wear around Portsmouth. Though it would not be a good idea to wear it in Southampton - as I was warned by my friend!
The shirt is in the colour of plain blue with a small white stripe around the border of the shirt and down the shoulders. It looks really good being just blue as I like wearing blue and the fact that it is relatively plain means it can be worn with most things and will not look too out of place. On the left hand side on the chest (if you are wearing it) it has the Portsmouth football club badge with the blue background which is slightly darker than the shirt and the yellow star and crescent moon underneath. Ont the right hand side on the chest it has the badge of the sponsor and producer of the shirt - Canterbury. They don't make many football shirts as they tend to focus on the whole on rugby teams and rugby shirts. But I therefore think this shirt is much better as I prefer the way rugby shirts are made and fit. Most football shirts are made by Nike or Adidas and I think this being made by Canterbury (the badge with three birds) makes it much different and more unique.
The main shirt sponsor which appears on the middle which is OKI and is a company which produces printers (so hopefully the club owns a few of these). And of course so that you are aware of this it says "printing solutions" underneath the big Oki sign.
On the back you can have the choice of having both a number and a name or a player of your choice or customise your own shirt with your favourite number and your name. f course this comes as an extra added cost to the actual shirt.
This shirt fits really well and comes in a range of sizes from kids and even baby shirts up to adults from sizes small up to extra and 2 times extra large I think. There are also shirts for women as well. I find the shirt I chose which was in medium fits really well and is absolutely perfect and is really comfortable and there are no bits where like on some shirts bits of stitching can becoming rather irritating.
Price:
This actual shirt is the one from last season 2007/2008, but there is very little difference from this to the new shirt so I went for this one. The only real difference seems to be that the white lining is now gold.
As a result of buying the old shirt I was able to get it much cheaper as it was on sale on the Portsmouth website for half price.
It costs £17.49 rather than £34.99
This is also much cheaper than the new shirt which is currently on sale for £39.99.
Portsmouth are a great premiership team who won the FA cup and this is a really good looking, comfortable shirt at a great price and if you live in the area or support Pompey this is certainly worth getting!
