~ ~ Long gone are the days when the serious golfer took to the links in a pair of old plus four trousers and an old pencil bag with an assortment of various clubs.
The present-day golfer often turns up at the course looking like they are preparing for a fashion shoot and with so many accoutrements that you?d think they?d need a fork-lift truck to help them get around the golf course.
~ ~ I have to admit that I have also moved with the times, and while I don?t subscribe to the latest in high fashion golf leisurewear, I have certainly welcomed with open arms the modern advances in golf bag design. My golf bag is a very important part of my golfing equipment, not least as it has to be able to carry not only my full compliment of fourteen golf clubs, but also all the related paraphernalia that is now part and parcel of playing the sport ...
I paid about £90 for this and bought it at the same time as getting a Powakaddy trolley. I decided to get a bag from the same manufacturer and I have to say that although it is early days in our relationship it is looking like great value. It's really well made and has that quality feel about it. Lots and lots of storage space, dare I say it possibly bordering on too much! It has full length club dividers as well as a separate compartment on the side to stash your putter. I have only used it a couple of times so I cannot comment on its durability but I would be very surprised if it doesn't last an awfully long time. My advice? If you've bought yourself a quality powered trolley then don't spoil it by buying a cheaper bag. ...
I did quite a lot of research before plumping for this. Lured by the idea of finishing 18 holes while still feeling quite fresh I dug deep and spent what I consider to be a lot of money - £530 - for the trolley together with a Powakaddy Deluxe bag, Rain Cover & Unbrella Holder. This was no easy decision, I am in my 30's and regularly play with guys in their 50's and 60's who manfully battle on with a carry bag so I knew I'd get some stick. And I have to say, it was a great decision. And I think that secretly my playing partners are quite jealous. I have always considered Powakaddy to be the Rolls Royce of powered trolleys and so far my perception has proved correct. I have friends who spent £150 - £200 on other makes and their experience has been woeful, it's all too often back at the manufacturers being repaired under warranty rather ...
