Advantages: Spacious, comfortable, friendly well equipped gym.
Disadvantages: Oh dear, it has a bar!

.... The girls on reception are very friendly (and also very attractive) and can help or point you in the direction of someone who can help at any time. Staff assist with training programmes, and they all seem very knowledgeable. In addition there are several personal trainers who can be hired. Notably a number of sessions are currently being offered leading to the Great North Run. (only for the very brave) LAYOUT The gym is spread out over two levels. downstairs there is a reception area, changing rooms, a bar/ cafe, a hairdressers and a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a hair salon. Upstairs there is a cardio area, two weight/ resistance areas and rooms for classes. The whole building is air conditioned. EQUIPMENT All the equipment, cardio and resistance is Technogym. Advantages: Cheap and Reliable
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable Seat

...I am a very keen runner and have been back in training for just over a year now after having a few years off. As part of my quest to get back to the standard I used to be, I incorporate a few sessions a week on my exercise bike, this helps build speed endurance and strength in general. The exercise bike in question is the Body Sculpture BC1510 and I got it as new and hardly used from a friend for £15. I have had a look around though and it retails from £40-£60 which is around the right price I feel for this kind of product. Now its quite a simple exercise bike, which to me is a positive as all I want it for is for a few training sessions a week and to know the distance I have covered and how long it took me. Advantages: Reasonably priced, plenty of free parking.
Disadvantages: You have to pay for the whole year even if you leave.

There is also a cafe/bar area that that sells some nice food and a wide variety of drinks, although service can be a little slow, even when the place is as good as empty. Upstairs you will find the CV room that has plenty of treadmills, X trainers, bikes (upright and recumbent), rowing machines, steppers and hand winding machines. If you find training in the main room a little intimidating there is a separate ladies room that has all of these facilities also.There are lots of wide screen TV's along the walls showing a variety of programmes or you can listen to the piped music that is played over the tannoy system.
