I bought one of these Powerballs for my boyfriend as a little extra christmas present. He had seen an advertisement in a martial arts magazine about this product, and hadn't stopped on about it. As he convinced me it would improve his grip in Judo, I searched around and finally ordered it off the internet. Christmas day came and the present was opened, "WOW, you got it for me, Thank you." Then off he went, tearing open the box, he glanced at the instructions and off he went, 'A kiddie in a sweet shop.' The idea of the device is to start the 'gyro' by winding a string around the internal section then pulling it out to start the rotating movement. The object of the participant is to rotate his/her wrist and keep the momentum of the gyro going. This inturn becomes harder, the faster the gyro turns, and the faster the gyro turns the harder it is to hold on to the ball, therfore making you grip tighter. The main areas, this device works, is your forearm , your wrist , and your grip. Ideal for sports such as tennis, judo, hockey etc... After my boyfriend got the hang of, he realised there was a counter that measured the number of revolutios per minute the gyro made, so the race was on. First it started out as how many RPM he could do in ten minutes and he challenged every one he could to try and beat him, now its how fast he can make it go. The powerball is with him everywhere he goes, friends, family, even work, he has challenged everyone, some of them have become more competative themselves and bought a Powerball so they can practice. His birthday is coming up soon, and with any luck he will find another amusing gadget to try, maybe then i can rest my wrist and arm.
